In general, the subject matter can be embodied in methods, systems, and program products for using a display of a computing device as a light source. The computing device receives a first image that was captured by a camera of the computing device, determines a brightness of at least part of the first image, selects an intensity of a light source that is to be presented by the display of the computing device, the intensity of the light source being selected based on the determined brightness of the at least part of the image, presents the light source by the display of the computing device, the presented light source having the selected intensity, and receives a second image that is captured by the camera of the computing device while the computing device is presenting the light source on the display using the selected intensity.

A display apparatus includes a sensor panel configured to sense a first incident light, which is incident to the sensor panel subsequent to passing through a display, and configured to at least partially block transmission of light through the sensor panel. The display apparatus further includes a controller configured to selectively control the display to pass the first incident light toward the sensor panel, and configured to control the display to pass light out of the display to display an image. The sensor panel includes a first sensor unit and a second sensor unit configured to sense the incident first light, and the first sensor unit and the second sensor unit include respective unit color filters having different color filters.

The data compensation unit selects parts of a plurality of gray-level transformation curves respectively corresponding to the pixel data according to the local curve indices, so as to regulate the pixel data and then provide a plurality compensated pixel data. The data gain unit determines a data gain according to a backlight duty cycle signal and regulates the compensated pixel data according to the data gain, so as to provide a plurality of enhanced pixel data.

Upon user interaction or detection of a user, one or more of the plurality of video display screens seamlessly transitions away from the video content to display a separate video content for interaction with the user.
