SURFACE DISINFECTION AND VISIBLE LIGHT SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR USING SAME

Surface disinfection for enclosures with Ultra-Violet (UV) light and illuminating such enclosures with visible light. Particular embodiments relate to limiting the transmission of viruses and bacteria in the interior space of an aircraft, such as a lavatory, through the use of UV light application, while providing visible light to passengers of such lavatory, both in a safe and compliant manner. This disclosure provides a lighting system and method that combines a visible light emitter and a UV light emitter into a single light system module. Although UV light is a preferred method of neutralizing pathogens, its use is not safe for human exposure. Accordingly, the disclosed lighting system is capable of detecting the presence of an occupant within an enclosure or defined space and only allows the visible light emitter to function (and prevents the UV light emitter from functioning) while people or animals are present within the electromagnetic range for the lighting system. The lighting system can then detect the absence of an occupant within an enclosure or defined space, prior to activating the UV light emitter, and once absence is detected, the UV light emitter can be activated by a controller.

Germicidal lighting

Apparatus, methods and instructions for disinfecting air. The apparatus may include, and the methods may involve, a fixture. The fixture may include a germicidal light source. The fixture may include a fan. The fan may circulate air through a volume into which the germicidal light source propagates germicidal light. The light source may be configured to emit, upward from a horizontal plane, a beam that, absent reflection off an environmental object, does not cross the horizontal plane. The apparatus may include a shield that prevents light from the light source from crossing the horizontal plane. The sensor may face upward from the horizontal plane. The sensor may face downward from the horizontal plane.

SYSTEMS FOR ELIMINATING AND/OR REDUCING AEROSOL EMISSIONS FROM A HEATER/COOLER

A system including tubing and a filter configured to be fluidly coupled to a vacuum source and to a heater/cooler unit by the tubing. The filter includes a filter container having negative air pressure in the filter container provided by the vacuum source to pull aerosol from the heater/cooler unit into the filter container and eliminate and/or reduce the aerosol emitted from the heater/cooler unit.

The present invention provides for a system for disinfecting air circulated in an HVAC system. The system includes at least one spray ring forming a continuous loop surrounding an outer surface of HVAC ductwork. The system further includes a plurality of spray nozzles connecting to each of the spray rings in the at least one spray ring, wherein each nozzle extends through an aperture in the HVAC ductwork, wherein a space between each nozzle and each aperture is sealed by a rubber gasket.

SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR DISINFECTING AIR IN AN AIRFLOW SYSTEM USING AN ULTRAVIOLET LASER
20230211036 · 2023-07-06 ·

A system and a method for disinfecting air from airborne pathogens, for example, viruses, bacteria, etc., in an airflow system, are provided. One or more first reflectors reflect a high power, ultraviolet laser beam (UVLB) from an ultraviolet laser(s) into one or more airflow channels of the airflow system. One or more second reflectors are attached to internal surfaces of the airflow channel(s), in a free space optical connection to the first reflector(s), for reflecting the UVLB and increasing contact, utilization, and interaction of the UVLB with the airflow in the airflow channel(s) for irradiating and disinfecting the air therein. Air supply components on a ceiling blow the disinfected air from an airflow channel into an enclosed space for inhalation by occupants in the enclosed space, while air exhaust components on a floor exhaust air exhaled by the occupants into an airflow channel, thereby precluding cross-contamination in the enclosed space.
