A helmet which has a plurality of substantially longitudinal members arranged side-by-side, the longitudinal members being in fluid communication with each other. It has a first inflated state in which the longitudinal members are distributed to form a substantially concave shape, and a second compressed state in which the longitudinal members lie flat and substantially coincident against each other. Each longitudinal member is separated from neighbouring longitudinal members by a tubular connecting member in a lattice configuration. The helmet may be made of HDPE or nylon.

A swim cap for persons having long hair includes a shell preferably having at least two interconnected compartments for receiving and encapsulating the hair of a user. The swim cap is secured around the head of a user by at least one draw string or adjustable band positioned within a channel near the open end of the swim cap as well as a chin strap extending downwardly from the cap. The interconnected compartments can be inflated to provide buoyancy. The shell further includes an outer layer and an inner layer defining a space therebetween that can also be inflated, or comprised of buoyant material, to provide buoyancy. A pump, compressed air canister or manual filler tube in communication with the interconnected compartments or space within the shell can be used to provide inflation. A pair of ear flaps extends downwardly from the swim cap around a user's head.

A low-fitting hairline cap is disclosed. The cap includes an indentation on each side that extends upward relative to the body. The indentations enable a wearer of the cap to seat the cap in a lower position on the head without being obstructed by the upper ears.

A sun hat having a bendable and shapeable brim is described. The bendable brim is characterized by a wire cable assembly secured in the brim of the hat along its perimeter. The wire cable assembly can comprise a loop of multi-strand metal cable enclosed in a slightly oversized flexible plastic sheath that is hermetically sealed at joining ends. The cable can be comprised of an annealed metal that permits it to be bent thousands of times without breaking.

A folding hat can include an integrated display system. Methods for folding and manufacturing the hat with integrated displays are also disclosed. The hat can include a visor and cap of various materials integrated with displays. The hat can have hinges that fold the assembly into a small volume for stowing. The hinges are configurable in a multitude of positions and geometries to provide different folding techniques and folded geometries. Such configurations allow for a range of options for carrying and storing the folding hat with integrated display system.

Items of headwear are disclosed. An item of headwear has a battery, and an information portal. The information portal includes an input device, a human interface device, and a content providing system. The content providing system has non-transitory computer memory with a program with instructions for receiving information from the input device, and relaying the information to the human interface device. The content providing system further includes a processor, an output device, and a networking device.

A sun hat having a bendable and shapeable brim is described. The bendable brim is characterized by a wire cable assembly secured in the brim of the hat along its perimeter. A ballistic garment includes a fabric cap and a plurality of flexible ballistic panels. Each of the plurality of flexible ballistic panels has a bottom edge and an acutely pointed head that is spaced from the bottom head. The acutely pointed head of each of the plurality of flexible ballistic panels is positioned adjacent a top portion of the fabric cap. The bottom edge of each of the plurality of flexible ballistic panels positioned adjacent a bottom portion of the fabric cap.

A helmet is described, more specifically a helmet comprising a protective shell (10) formed of a flexible expanded polyurethane (EPU) material which defines a cavity for receiving the wearer's head, the shell being foldable, the helmet further comprising a strap (11) arrangement for fastening the shell to the wearer's head.
