A system for validation of a hearing aid performance, especially in small children is disclosed. The validation of the performance of hearing aids after having being fitted to a small child who is not able to subjectively provide responses to sounds presented to the child via the hearing aids, is instead done in an objective manner, by using a naturally occurring signal, which has been modulated in order to create an ASSR evoking speech stimulus which is not considered as noise by a hearing aid.

A hearing instrument charger device for charging an individually shaped hearing instrument, includes: a charger casing; a charger power supply within the charger casing; a first charger coil connected to the charger power supply; charger electronics for controlling charging of the hearing instrument; and a holder configured for receiving the hearing instrument, the holder located within the charger casing; wherein the holder for the hearing instrument has a shape that is specific for the individually shaped hearing instrument, such that when the individually shaped hearing instrument is received in the holder, a second charger coil of the individually shaped hearing instrument is in an operative position for receiving charging power from the first charger coil of the hearing instrument charger device.

Embodiments of the invention include a method of charging a rechargeable battery, the method comprising the steps of: detecting the presence of a rechargeable hearing aid in a hearing aid recharger; generating a unique random ID in the charger; transmitting the unique random ID to the hearing aid using an extremely low power protocol; demodulating the unique ID in the hearing aid; using the demodulated unique ID in a low power protocol to advertise the hearing aid on a network which includes the charger; associating the hearing aid to the charger when the charger which broadcast the unique ID receives that unique ID from a hearing aid using a wireless protocol; using the wireless protocol to communicate between the associated charging station and hearing aid; radiating power from the charger to the hearing aid; and ending the association when the hearing aid is removed from the charger.

Various embodiments include a method of signal processing an input signal in a hearing assistance device, the hearing assistance device including a receiver and a microphone. The method includes performing neural network processing to train a processor to identify acoustic features in a plurality of audio signals and predict target outputs for the plurality of audio signals, and using the trained processor to control frequency translation of the input signal.

The remote server (25) is adapted to set up a secure session with said hearing aid via said personal communication device (13) acting as a gateway. The processor (121) allows said remote server (25) to edit said settings for configuring the hearing aid (10, 11) stored said first memory segment (110-112) during a secure session set up under control of said at least one security element stored in the second. memory segment (114).
