A system for perfusing a localized site within a body includes a catheter assembly having a venous access line that is adapted to deliver perfusate to the localized site, a venous or arterial drainage line adapted to drain perfusate from the localized site, and an occlusion device adapted to prevent some or substantially all physiological blood flow between the localized site and the systemic circulation of the body during and in the course of perfusing and draining perfusate to and from the localized site. The system may include a blood circuit associated with the catheter assembly to facilitate blood conditioning for use as the perfusate, in the course of a controlled perfusion and/or drainage of untreated, treated, or inactivated treated blood to and from the localized site. A delivery machine may control the blood circuit and catheter assembly in order to both deliver perfusate to, and drain some or all perfusate from, the localized site in a manner that provides perfusate to substantially only the localized site.

BLOOD CIRCULATION SYSTEM

A blood circulation system that can be connected to a human body is provided. The system may include a roller pump, a blood removal line through which blood removed from the human body flows to the roller pump, a blood transfer line that transfers blood, which is sent from the roller pump, to the human body, means for measuring a blood removal rate provided in the blood removal line to measure a blood removal rate parameter of blood flowing through the blood removal line and a control unit, wherein the control unit is programmed to control a blood transfer rate of the roller pump by controlling a rotational speed of the roller pump with a control signal, such that a transfer rate of blood flowing through the blood transfer line is synchronized with a removal rate calculated from the blood removal rate parameter.

Oxygenator antithrombotic coating and method of manufacture
11779690 · 2023-10-10 · ·

Hollow fiber membranes in an oxygenator for an extracorporeal blood circulator are coated with an antithrombotic polymeric material. The porous hollow fiber membranes for gas exchange have outer surfaces, inner surfaces forming lumens, opening portions through which the outer surfaces communicate with the inner surfaces in a housing. A blood flow path is outside of the hollow fiber membrane bundle in the housing, between a blood inlet port and a blood outlet port. The coating is obtained by filling the blood flow path with a colloidal solution containing an antithrombotic polymeric compound, and moving the colloid solution between the blood inlet port and the blood outlet port for a time that coats a predetermined amount of antithrombotic polymeric compound on the outer surfaces of the hollow fiber membranes. Other surfaces within the oxygenator contacting the blood flow likewise receive the coating.

Blood pump and oxygenator combination.

A combination blood pump and oxygenator, comprising an axial flow blood pump defining axially opposed blood inlet and outlet and a central lumen. The combination also includes a gas exchanger extending along the central lumen, the gas exchanger defining a gas inlet and a gas outlet, the gas exchanger being operative for allowing gas exchanges between blood circulated between the blood inlet and the blood outlet and gas circulated in the gas exchanger between the gas inlet and the gas outlet.

The invention relates to a method for producing a device for a mass transfer between two fluids, wherein at least one hollow-fiber mat (9) is wound on an at least partly hollow core assembly (1, 1a, 1b, 2), and the formed coil is inserted into a housing (10). The assembly of the housing (10) and the coil is then sealed (10), in particular potted, with a sealant at the opposing axial ends in the regions between the hollow-fiber ends and the housing. The core assembly (1, 2) is made of at least two axially adjacent core parts (1, 1a, 1b, 2) arranged one behind the other, at least one (1, 1a, 1b) of which has a hollow design, and the core parts (1, 1a, 1b, 2) are kept in specified axial positions relative to each other, in particular at a distance to each other, by means of at least one aid element (7) at least over the period of the sealing process and preferably over the period of the winding process as well. After the sealing process and the removal of the at least one aid element (7), at least the axially end-face core parts (1, 1a, 2) are kept in their relative positions to each other by means of the sealant. The invention also relates to a coil, a core assembly, and a core system.
