Receiver-in-canal assembly comprising a diaphragm and a cable connection

A receiver-in-canal (RIC) assembly for positioning in or at an ear canal of a user. The RIC assembly includes a housing having an opening between an exterior space outside the housing and an internal space inside the housing, and a cable connection located in the housing and facilitating connection of a cable to the RIC assembly. Furthermore, the RIC assembly includes a first diaphragm extending in a first plane in the housing, and a first motor electrically connected to the cable connection and operatively connected to the first diaphragm. The cable connection is located relative to the first diaphragm such that at least a part of it can be projected onto a movable part of the first diaphragm in a direction perpendicular to the first plane and where the cable connection means is located in continuation of the first motor in a plane parallel to the first plane.

A modular speech processor headpiece includes a core comprising a microphone and sound processor for producing a signal representing ambient sound to be transmitted to a cochlear implant, the core further comprising a number of electrical contacts; and a modular component containing a number of electrical contacts corresponding to the electrical contacts of the core; wherein the core is configured to engage with the modular component such that electrical communication is made between the core and the modular component.

In one embodiment, the present invention is directed to a compact connector including a light tip connector including a light tip cable connected thereto, the light tip connector including a receiving cavity including side walls and a bottom wall, guide channels formed in the side walls of the receiving cavity, a locking pin at a medial end of the guide channel and one or more light tip electrodes positioned on a bottom wall of the receiving cavity. In further embodiments of the present invention, a BTE connector includes a latch adapted to engage the locking pin to hold the BTE connector in the receiving cavity when the BTE connector is attached to the light tip connector. In a further embodiment, the compact connector includes a plurality of pogo pin electrodes arranged to contact the light tip electrodes when the BTE connector is attached to the light tip connector.
