20230098825 · 2023-03-30 ·

Disclosed in the present application are a short message service (SMS) ability updating method, device and apparatus. The method includes a mobility management function receives a triggering condition of an SMS function/a user data management function, and/or, the mobility management function determines that SMS over NAS ability update needs to be triggered; the mobility management function updates the SMS over NAS ability of a UE. By using the present application, when a mobility management function receives a triggering condition of an SMS function/a user data management function, and/or, the mobility management function determines that SMS over NAS ability update needs to be triggered, the mobility management function updates the SMS over NAS ability of the UE. The SMS over NAS ability update can be triggered by means of a network side, thereby preventing the UE from making an erroneous SMS transmission attempt.

One disclosure in the present specification provides a session management method performed by a session management function (SMF) node. The session management method may comprise: a step of transmitting, to a user plane function (UPF) node, a request message for discarding traffic buffering, when a notification of the detection of particular traffic associated with a wireless device has been received, and if additional authentication is required for the particular traffic; and a step of transmitting a message for triggering the wireless device to establish a new packet data unit (PDU) session, to an access and mobility management function (AMF) node.

Disclosed herein is a method of a network operator entity for configuring Subscriber Profile Identification, SPID, associated with a permanent identifier of a communication device operating in a wireless communication network. The method comprises determining whether the device requires two or more SPID values based on a desired network handling of the 5communication device; configuring the permanent identifier of the device to be associated with two or more SPID values based on the determined desired network handling of the communication device; and storing at a network database, the two or more SPID values associated with the permanent identifier of the communication device.

A disclosure of the present specification provides a method for performing, by a visited public land mobile network-policy control function (V-PCF), communication using edge computing. The method comprises the steps of: establishing UE policy association with a home public land mobile network-policy control function (H-PCF); receiving a first subscription message from the H-PCF; and transmitting a second subscription message to a visited public land mobile network-unified data repository (V-UDR). The first subscription message is a message that requests a notification, according to edge application server (EAS) information being updated or modified, the second subscription message is a message that requests a notification, according to the EAS information being updated or modified, the second subscription message is based on the first subscription message, and the EAS information may be information that is generated by an application function (AF) and transmitted to the V-UDR.

MOBILITY STATE-BASED SDT PROCEDURES

Systems and methods for small data transmissions (SDTs) between a user equipment (UE) and a network are disclosed herein. In some embodiments, the UE determines whether to perform an SDT procedure by comparing its own mobility state to an SDT mobility state condition provided by the network. The UE may also determine whether to perform the SDT procedure by comparing the size of user plane (UP) data to be sent with the SDT procedure to an SDT mobility-based data amount threshold provided by the network. Upon entering an RRC_INACTIVE state, the UE may start a validity timer relative to any such SDT mobility state condition and/or SDT mobility-based data amount threshold, and invalidate these once the validity timer expires. In some disclosed embodiments, the UE reports its determined mobility state to the network during an SDT procedure so that the network can accordingly select configuration parameters for SDT procedures.

MUSIM SR PROCEDURE AND MM CONGESTION CONTROL
20230101341 · 2023-03-30 ·

A method of handling NAS signaling connection release under mobility management congestion control for MUSIM UE is proposed. A MUSIM UE has established a NAS signaling connection on a first USIM in connected mode. Later on, the MUSIM UE has more important job to be started on the second USIM. The MUSIM UE wishes to initiate a service request procedure by transmitting a service request to the network, to release the NAS signaling connection on the first USIM. However, under the 5GMM/EMM signaling congestion condition with timer T3346 running, the AMF/MME rejects 5GMM/EMM signaling requests from UE. In one novel aspect, the MUSIM UE requests the network to release the NAS signaling connection while timer T3346 is still running. As a result, the MUSIM UE is able to start the more important job on the second USIM, or to improve user experience on the second USIM.
