Gateway selection controlled by network
A method, computer program product and a user equipment (UE) are provided for assisting a user equipment (UE) in selecting a network function. A first message is received from the UE. The first message includes UE request capabilities. A second message is sent to the UE. The second message includes an indication that promotes the UE attempting to connect to a particular Public Land Mobile Network (PLMN) using a network function belonging to the particular PLMN.

Inter-radio access technology (RAT)
Techniques are described for facilitating an inter-Radio Access Technology (RAT) selection or measurement process for a dual-mode or a multi-mode device. For example, a wireless communication method includes a network node transmitting to a communication node a system information block (SIB) that includes information about Radio Access Technologies (RATs). The information includes any one or more of a first carrier priority value and a first threshold value of a serving frequency associated with a RAT, a second carrier priority value and a second threshold value of a serving cell associated with the RAT, an indicator to indicate existence of one or more additional RATs, carrier information for the one or more additional RATs, and access information to access the one or more additional RATs.

Redirection mechanism to support network sharing/slicing with CU-DU split
Systems and methods for redirecting Radio Resource Control (RRC) messages in a wireless system that uses Central Unit (CU)/Distributed Unit (DU) splitting and either network sharing or network slicing are disclosed. In some embodiments, a method performed by a shared Distributed Unit (DU) comprises receiving a RRC message from a User Equipment (UE) and sending a first DU-to-Central Unit (CU) message to a first CU, where the first DU-to-CU message comprises the RRC message. The method further comprises either obtaining an indication that the first CU is a wrong CU for the RRC message or determining that the first CU is a wrong CU for the RRC message. The method further comprises sending another DU-to-CU message to a second CU, where the other DU-to-CU message comprises the RRC message or a RRC message related to the RRC message.
Techniques for user equipment antenna prioritization
Various aspects of the present disclosure generally relate to wireless communication. In some aspects, a user equipment (UE) may establish a first communication link using a first radio access technology (RAT). The UE may establish a second communication link using a second RAT. The UE may determine whether to prioritize antenna selection for the first communication link using the first RAT or the second communication link using the second RAT. The UE may prioritize antenna selection for the first communication link or the second communication link based at least in part on the determination. Numerous other aspects are provided.
Apparatus and method for selecting centralized unit-user plane in wireless communication system
The present disclosure relates to a pre-5.sup.th-Generation (5G) or 5G communication system to be provided for supporting higher data rates Beyond 4.sup.th-Generation (4G) communication system such as Long Term Evolution (LTE). The embodiments of the present disclosure provide a method for operating a centralized unit-control plane (CU-CP). The method includes acquiring, by the CU-CP in a base station, information regarding at least one centralized unit-user plane (CU-UP) connected to a distributed unit (DU), and selecting, by the CU-CP, a CU-UP, among the at least one CU-UP, suitable for an access of a user equipment, according to the information regarding the at least one CU-UP connected to the DU.
METHOD AND APPARATUS FOR RESELECTING A CELL IN HETEROGENEOUS NETWORKS IN A WIRELESS COMMUNICATION SYSTEM
The present disclosure provides a method for cell reselection in a wireless communication system in which various radio access technologies (RATs) coexist with each other. In a wireless communication system in which heterogeneous networks coexist with each other, the method of cell reselection between heterogeneous networks for a user equipment may include: receiving a system information block (SIB) containing cell reselection parameters from a corresponding base station; checking whether cell reselection parameters based on a cell selection quality value (Squal) are configured in the received SIB; and performing, when cell reselection parameter based on Squal are not configured, cell reselection based on a cell selection receive level value (Srxlev). The present disclosure may prevent the user equipment from performing unnecessary cell reselection.
METHOD AND DEVICE FOR AUTHENTICATING A MOBILE STATION ON AN ALTERNATIVE COMMUNICATIONS NETWORK
A method of authenticating a mobile station on an alternate communications network is disclosed, the mobile station being associated with a default communications network. The mobile station comprises a baseband processor to manage the antenna-related functions and a SIM card to accommodate a default SIM associated with the default communications network for receiving network credentials from the baseband processor. The method comprises providing a SIM card device to intercept communications between the baseband processor and the SIM card, monitoring the network credentials in respect of the network that the mobile station is actively in communication with, determining whether the mobile station needs to switch to an alternate network, and identifying or receiving from a user the alternate network, consulting a SIM bank, comprising at least one alternate SIM, and selecting an alternate SIM having a mobile station identification variable compatible with the alternate network, receiving a network authentication request on the mobile station from the alternate network, and allocating the selected mobile station identification variable to the mobile station so as to identify the user of the mobile station on the alternate network.
COMMUNICATION CONTROL METHOD, BASE STATION AND USER TERMINAL
In a communication control method, user terminal and processor thereof, a user terminal receives a plurality of identifiers of wireless LAN access points and information on a security key to be used in a wireless LAN communication. The user terminal notifies a base station of first information indicating a successful connection, in response to a successful connection to a predetermined wireless LAN access point indicated by an identifier included in the plurality of identifiers. The user terminal also notifies the base station of second information indicating an unsuccessful connection, in response to an unsuccessful connection to all of the wireless LAN access point indicated by the plurality of identifiers.
