The present application relates to scheduling SSB measurements on SSB beams. In an example, a base station can transmit SSBs on SSB beams that form a serving cell. Depending on an SSB measurement on one of the SSB beams, a UE can schedule an additional SSB measurement on this SSB beam only or schedule SSB measurements on the different SSB beams.

The UE determines whether a quality of at least one NBI-RS resource associated with at least one candidate TRP is larger than or equal to a second threshold. The UE selects a new beam for a recovery procedure based on determining results associated with the serving TRP and the at least one candidate TRP.

In one aspect, the method can include actions of measuring a reference signal received power (RSRP) value for each of a plurality of synchronization signal block (SSB) beams from a base station, determining that a greatest RSRP value of the measured RSRP values is less than or equal to a predetermined threshold, responsive to the determination, calculating, based at least in part on the measured RSRP values and a horizontal/vertical (H/V) polarization imbalance for each of the plurality of SSB beams, a ranking of the plurality of SSB beams, and reporting at least one of the ranked plurality of SSB beams to the base station.

Ranging and timing may be provided. A station may send an action frame. The action frame may include an Identifier (ID) associated with an upcoming Timing Measurement (TM)/Fine Timing Measurement (FTM) session. The action frame may indicate a purpose of the upcoming TM/FTM session. Next, the station may send, subsequent to sending the action frame, a TM/FTM session request associated with the action frame. The station may then perform the purpose indicated by the action frame.

A unified solution to support all PCell, SCell, and per-TRP based beam failure recovery (BFR) procedure is proposed, with less standard impact and reduced latency. In a first novel aspect, a set of reference signals (RSs) for BFD is configured for each BWP of a serving cell, and a maximum number of BFD RSs (N) per TRP for each BWP of a serving cell is configured. In a second novel aspect, for single DCI multi-TRP, the BFD RSs can be updated via MAC CE to reduce latency. In a third novel aspect, new RRC parameters for BFD RSs and candidate beam RSs are configured, with different sets of SSB/CSI-RS resources associated to each TRP. Specifically, an additional lists of SSB/CSI-RS resource set is defined for each corresponding TRP.
