MAINTAINING VALIDITY OF TIMING ADVANCE

Systems and methods are provided for maintaining validity of a timing advance value in a wireless device operable in a wireless communication network. According to an embodiment, validity of a previously configured a TA value in a wireless device is determined by comparing the previously configured TA value to a threshold. The threshold may be based on an amount of time required for a radio signal to traverse a distance corresponding to the intended radius of a cell serving the wireless device. Alternatively, the TA validity may be determined based on a history of TA updates. Optionally, a previously configured TA value may be gradually ramped up or down until the wireless device receives an acknowledgment of successful receipt of an UL data transmission by the base station.

Synchronization signal design for unlicensed spectrum access using cellular communications

Apparatuses, systems, and methods for performing timing synchronization between a base station and a user equipment device within an unlicensed spectrum band. In some scenarios, beamforming tracking may also be performed. Upon determining that a transmission medium within the unlicensed spectrum band is available for transmission, a base station may transmit a plurality of synchronization signal blocks (SSBs), or a plurality of copies of one SSB, with associated remaining minimum system information (RMSI) blocks, within a single time instance within a SSB burst window. The SSBs may be transmitted at different frequency positions and according to distinct beamforming configurations. The SSBs and RMSI blocks may be configured such that a receiving user equipment device may determine the time-domain, and optionally the frequency-domain, position of the SSB and RMSI within the SSB burst window, to allow timing synchronization and optionally beamforming tracking.

Secure beacon identity

A method may include receiving a beacon from a first intermediate device via a first network, the beacon being received by the first intermediate device from an endpoint device via a second network. The beacon may include a hash value based at least in part on the identity of the endpoint device and a time unit when the beacon was generated. The hash value of the beacon may be validated based on the identity of the endpoint device and the time unit when the beacon was generated. The beacon may be forwarded to a server via a third network in response to the hash value of the beacon being valid.

TRANSMISSION DELAY COMPENSATION FOR INTRA-FREQUENCY BAND COMMUNICATION

The present disclosure relates to systems and methods for operating transceiver circuitry to transmit or receive signals on various frequency ranges. To do so, an electronic device may determine a receive delay between one or more messages received on different component carriers and may transmit the receive delay to a base station to update how communications are transmitted on one of the component carriers. The update made to at least one of the component carriers may compensate for the receive delay between the different component carriers. Compensating for the receive delay may improve operations that delay downlink communications to reduce a likelihood or stop simultaneous downlink and uplink communications by further adjusting for delays seen at an electronic device when communicating with base stations disposed at a different distances from the electronic device.
