A paging method performed by a network device is provided. The method comprises: sending at least one of a first paging channel or a second paging channel to terminals belonging to a same terminal group, first paging being used for paging corresponding to signal quality being greater than a target signal threshold, and second paging being used for paging corresponding to the signal quality being less than or equal to the target signal threshold.

Embodiments of the present invention provide a communication method and apparatus. A network device determines, based on first capability information, a bandwidth part supported by a first terminal device, and sends a first paging message on a target bandwidth part, where the bandwidth part is used to carry paging or another message. The target bandwidth part matches the bandwidth part supported by the first terminal device. Therefore, compared with attempting to send the first paging message by the network device on a plurality of bandwidth parts, sending the first paging message on the target bandwidth part can effectively reduce a quantity of times of unnecessary paging sending by the network device, so as to reduce a quantity of wasted paging resources. This can effectively reduce a quantity of times of unnecessary listening of the first terminal device, reduce energy consumption of the terminal device, and improve paging efficiency.

Measurements for narrow-band internet of things devices

Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described that provide for measurements for narrow-band (NB) Internet of Things (IoT) devices. A user equipment (UE) may receive a cell-specific reference signal (CRS) during a paging occasion and via a non-anchor carrier. The UE may process the CRS by determining and/or making quality measurements of the paging carrier. The quality measurements may be used to determine whether a paging occasion should be terminated early to conserve UE power and to prevent an extended “on” duration during the discontinuous receive cycle of the UE. In some examples, the UE may combine statistics and/or measurements based on processing of both the CRS and a narrow-band reference signal (NRS).

METHOD AND APPARATUS FOR TRANSMITTING AND RECEIVING SIGNAL IN WIRELESS COMMUNICATION SYSTEM

According to at least one of embodiments of the present disclosure, a UE may receive paging early indication (PEI)-related information through higher-layer signaling, attempt to detect a PEI associated with ‘M’ paging occasions (POs) based on the PEI-related information, determine whether to perform or skip monitoring of a physical downlink control channel (PDCCH) in a specific PO related to the UE among the plurality of POs, based on the detected PEI, and receive at least one of paging downlink control information (DCI) carried by the PDCCH or a physical downlink shared channel (PDSCH) scheduled by the paging DCI, in a state in which the UE determines to perform monitoring of the PDCCH.

REMOTE USER EQUIPMENT DIRECT TO INDIRECT PATH SWITCHING IN SIDELINK RELAY

Systems, methods, apparatuses, and computer program products for remote user equipment direct to indirect path switching in sidelink relay are provided. For example, a method can include receiving, at a user equipment from a network element, a system information block message having an information element to configure monitoring of paging messages at a common paging occasion, which can be configured for user equipment that are in idle or inactive state and that are configured to act as a user-equipment-to-network relay user equipment. The method may also include monitoring a page at the common paging occasion based on the information element. The method may further include sending a random access preamble dedicated to the user equipment in response to the page. The method may additionally include performing a state transition to connected mode only after a response to the random access preamble is received.

TRACKING REFERENCE SIGNAL AVAILABILITY INDICATION VALIDITY DURATION
20230224811 · 2023-07-13 ·

Some techniques described herein provide selective application of a validity duration, cessation of transmission of a tracking reference signal (TRS), indication of an availability indication via a paging PDCCH when no user equipment (UE) is paged, and application of an availability indication based at least in part on an offset such that the availability indication is applied only after the availability indication is received. By selectively applying the validity duration, the network can avoid being bound to a validity duration when no TRS is to be transmitted. The network can cease transmission of a TRS during a validity duration, or may reduce the occurrence of repeated validity durations, thereby reducing overhead. By indicating the availability indication when no UE is paged, the network can update availability indication even when no UE is paged, which reduces overhead relative to only updating availability indication when a UE is paged.
