SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR ESTABLISHING A USER CONNECTION
A system for providing a user connection between first and second mobile devices that includes a first software application executable on the first mobile device in communication with a server. The first mobile device includes a first geo-fence having a first radius. The software application is configured to permit a first user to send a connection request to a second user. When the second user accepts the connection request a device connection is made between the mobile devices. The second user mobile device has a second geo-fence with a second radius. When the device connection is made, an initial distance is determined between the mobile devices. The initial distance is greater than the sum of the first radius and the second radius. When the distance between the first and second mobile devices is less than the sum of the first radius and the second radius the device connection is terminated.
Paging message coordination in a mobile radio system
The invention provides mobile radio system access network equipment including means for coordinating resources for circuit-switched mode services and packet-switched mode services, which resource coordination means are limited to means for coordinating sending circuit-switched mode service paging messages to a mobile station in packet-switched mode.
Methods and apparatus for paging reception in multimode wireless networks
Methods and apparatus enabling a mobile device to receive paging notifications from multiple networks. In one embodiment of the present invention, a first device connected to a first network momentarily ignores the first network, to monitor a second network instead. The first device identifies and prioritizes a list of applications of the first network; the prioritized listing allows the first device to preempt one of its lower priority tasks to monitor the second network for paging messages instead. The described methods and apparatus enable e.g., GSM paging for Class B cellular devices which are connected to GPRS NMO-2 type networks. The Class B cellular device can ignore certain GPRS data (which is tolerant to error), to decode GSM paging channels, which would otherwise be missed.

FORWARDING SIGNALING MESSAGES FROM TWO OR MORE COMMUNICATION NETWORKS ASSOCIATED WITH DIFFERENT RADIO ACCESS TECHNOLOGIES TO A USER EQUIPMENT
A UE registers with a paging hub to a message forwarding service that is configured to forward information from messages wirelessly transmitted by two or more RANs associated with different RAT-types to the UE over a local wireless network that is separate from the two or more RANs. The UE refrains from monitoring a set of downlink wireless channels used by the two or more RANs while the paging hub monitors the set of downlink wireless channels on behalf of the UE. The paging hub detects a signaling message that is targeted to the UE by a given RAN, and forwards a message including information derived from the signaling message to the local wireless network for transmission to the UE. The UE receives the forwarded message and selectively communicates with the given RAN in response to the received message.
COMMUNICATION METHOD, COMMUNICATIONS APPARATUS, AND COMMUNICATIONS SYSTEM
This application provides a communication method and a corresponding apparatus and system. The method includes: receiving, in a first network, a paging message that is from a first network device and that is used to page a first terminal device, where the paging message includes first information, and a network type of the first network is a first network type; and determining, based on the first information, a second network associated with the paging message that is used to page the first terminal device, where a network type of the second network is a second network type. The first network type is a non-public network and the second network type is a public network, or the first network type is a public network and the second network type is a non-public network. Cross-network paging between networks of different network types can be supported.
METHODS AND APPARATUS FOR REDUCING RESOURCE CONTENTION
Certain aspects of the present disclosure relate to methods and apparatus for reducing resource contention between two or more RATs supported by a User Equipment (UE). The UE may determine a first level of contention between Radio Frequency (RF) resources to be used by two or more Radio Access Technologies (RATs) supported by the UE over a given period of time for performing at least one type of receive activity, based at least on assigned Discontinuous Reception (DRX) cycles for the RATs. The UE may decide to initiate an update of a DRX cycle for at least one of the RATs to reduce the contention, at least if the determined first level is greater than a given threshold level of the contention over the given period of time.
Managing pages of an access terminal when the access terminal is engaged in a communication session within a wireless communications system
At least one embodiment of the invention is directed to communicating in a wireless communications system, including monitoring a communication session on a first network, ignoring pages from a second network during the communication session, the first and second network configured for operation on different physical layers, and upon termination of the communication session over the first network, selectively sending a query to an application server to request information related to failed attempts by the application server to contact the access terminal on the second network during the communication session.
Called recovery method, apparatus, and system
Embodiments of the present invention provide a called recovery method, including: receiving, by a target mobile switching center MSC, a provide roaming number PRN message sent by a backup MSC corresponding to a faulty MSC, where the PRN message carries an instruction for initiating paging to a called terminal through a mobility management entity MME; and performing international mobile subscriber identity IMSI paging according to the instruction, so that an MME to which a called terminal is attached controls the called terminal to perform circuit switched fallback CSFB to complete a called connection. Correspondingly, the embodiments of the present invention further provide a mobile switching center and a called recovery system. This solves a problem that in an MSC pool architecture, called paging in a CS domain cannot be performed when a terminal corresponding to a faulty MSC is attached to an E-UTRAN, and improves paging reliability.
