In one aspect, there is provided a method performed by a terminal device. The terminal device has a first connection with a serving base station using a first radio-access technology, and a second connection with one or more nodes using a second radio-access technology. The method comprises: receiving, from the serving base station over the first connection, a connection configuration message, the connection configuration message comprising configuration information for the second connection; and, responsive to successful implementation of the configuration information for the second connection, transmitting a first response message to the serving base station over the first connection, the first response message comprising an indication that the configuration information was successfully implemented.

A radio apparatus communicating with a first and a second network, and having a first connection to the first network, may receive a page from the second network and determine to form a second connection with the second network, and notify the first network of the selection. The apparatus may then form the second connection, and monitor for paging from the first network, e.g., during a given paging occasion and paging frame.

The communication control method includes, when the first user equipment transmits a Radio Resource Control (RRC) message including configuration information related to the sidelink communication, and discontinuous reception is configured between the first user equipment and the second user equipment, performing, by the first user equipment, waiting processing for reception of an RRC response message responding to the RRC message regardless of a configuration of the discontinuous reception. The communication control method includes transmitting, by the second user equipment, the RRC response message responding to the RRC message when receiving the RRC message, and receiving, by the first user equipment, the RRC response message.

In an embodiment, a communication control method is a communication control method in a mobile communication system that includes a first user equipment and a second user equipment and can perform sidelink communication between the first user equipment and the second user equipment. The communication control method includes, when the first user equipment transmits a Radio Resource Control (RRC) message including configuration information related to the sidelink communication, and discontinuous reception is configured between the first user equipment and the second user equipment, performing, by the first user equipment, waiting processing for reception of an RRC response message responding to the RRC message regardless of a configuration of the discontinuous reception. The communication control method includes transmitting, by the second user equipment, the RRC response message responding to the RRC message when receiving the RRC message, and receiving, by the first user equipment, the RRC response message.

Disclosed are embodiments for sidelink (SL) capability exchange via a PC5 link between first and second UEs for configuring inter-UE coordination (IUC). In one embodiment, a method entails generating a radio resource control (RRC) message for the second UE, the RRC message including information to identify supported IUC types of the first UE or provide an indication of which resource allocation mode is supported for IUC; signaling with a first SL unicast transmission to the second UE the RRC message; and receiving through a second SL unicast transmission from the second UE the SL capability of the second UE to configure IUC. Also disclosed are techniques for IUC with a UE configured for mode 1 (network-controlled) sidelink (SL) resource allocation.
