SELF-HEATING LIQUID LENS AND SELF-HEATING METHODS FOR THE SAME
A liquid lens comprising: a lens body including a cavity, a control electrode, and a common electrode; a first liquid disposed within the cavity and in electrical communication with the common electrode; a second liquid disposed within the cavity; an insulating layer in contact with the first liquid and the second liquid and separating the first liquid and the second liquid from the control electrode; and a driver driving a voltage differential across the common electrode and the control electrode, with the first liquid resisting current flow between the common electrode and the control electrode and thereby raising a temperature of the first liquid from a current temperature to a predetermined temperature, which is higher than the current temperature. The driver raises the temperature of the first liquid from the current temperature to the predetermined temperature by increasing a frequency of a voltage waveform of the voltage differential.

A skin effect heating system for long pipelines includes a heater cable disposed in a ferromagnetic or other conductive heat tube. A semiconductive jacket contacts the inner surface of the heat tube, where the charge density of the return current carried by the heat tube is at its highest. The semiconductive jacket material has a resistivity that is sufficiently low to reduce or eliminate arcing events such as corona discharge by allowing accumulated charge on the heat tube to dissipate. The resistivity is also high enough to prevent the return current from flowing into or through the semiconductive outer layer, so that heat production capacity of the system is maximized.

SOLIDS-PACKED APPARATUS FOR PERFORMANCE OF ENDOTHERMIC REACTIONS WITH DIRECT ELECTRICAL HEATING
The present invention relates to an electrically heatable packed pressure-bearing apparatus for conducting endothermic reactions having an upper (3), middle (1) and lower (3) apparatus section, where at least one pair of electrodes (4, 5) in a vertical arrangement is installed in the middle section (1) and all electrodes are disposed in an electrically conductive solid-state packing (26), the upper and lower apparatus sections have a specific conductivity of 105 S/m to 108 S/m, and the middle apparatus section is electrically insulated against the solid-state packing, wherein the upper and lower apparatus sections are electrically insulated from the middle apparatus section, the upper electrode is connected via the upper apparatus section and the lower electrodes via the lower apparatus section or the electrodes are each connected via one or more connecting elements (10, 16) that are in electrical contact with these sections and the ratio of the cross-sectional areas of the upper and lower electrode to the cross-sectional area of the respective current-conducting connecting element or, without use of a connecting element, the ratio of the cross-sectional area of the upper and lower electrode to the cross-sectional area of the respective current-conducting apparatus section is 0.1 to 10.

A skin effect heating system for long pipelines includes a heater cable disposed in a ferromagnetic or other conductive heat tube, the heater cable and heat tube cooperating to produce heat that is applied to the carrier pipe. The heater cable includes a conductor surrounded by an insulating layer, and then a semiconductive outer layer or jacket. The semiconductive jacket contacts the inner surface of the heat tube, where the charge density of the return current carried by the heat tube is at its highest. Concrete heating system
A concrete heating system for electrically melting snow and ice. The concrete heating system generally includes a heating device for embedding in conductive concrete, the device having a spacing member and a plurality of electrically isolated conductors extending outward at an angle from the spacing member along its length. The device also includes a first electrode near the first end of the spacing member, and a second electrode extending outward from the spacing member at the second end. The plurality of conductors conduct an electrical current between the first electrode and the second electrode when the concrete heating device is embedded in conductive concrete and the power source applies a voltage between the first electrode and the second electrode.

A method for treating a food which is in an insulating encapsulation or casing or which will be introduced into same, by ohmic heating. The heating serves to treat sausage products in an intestine, such as Brhwurst (scalded sausage), hot dogs or similar food products. The food is brought into contact with spaced electrically conductive electrodes, wherein the electrodes are connected to a controllable power source. The electrodes are each in the form of at least one first and one second electrode group, wherein the electrode groups are at a distance A.sub.EG to one another. Each electrode group has a number of individual electrodes, similar to a comb-like set of needles, wherein the neighbouring individual electrodes of the comb-type set of needles are each at a distance A.sub.EE to one another. The respective comb-like set of needles penetrates the insulating encapsulation or the casing of the food.
AUTOMATICALLY RESETTABLE SMOKING PARAPHERNALIA
An automatically resettable smoking paraphernalia includes the following components: an outer upper shell, a smoking cup provided inside the outer upper shell, a pushing key, and a spring, etc., wherein the smoking cup, the spring, the outer upper shell can be detached and replaced as a whole, the smoking cup can stick out of the outer upper shell by a distance to extract and unload the cigarette, and then automatically reset. Besides, the smoking cup is hidden inside the upper outer shell, so as to prevent the exposed smoking cup with an excessively high temperature from burning users, meanwhile avoiding a risk of losing the smoking cup.
