An image display device of the invention has a sealing material and an image display element in this order from the visible side, the sealing material is a laminate having a substrate, an inorganic layer, and an organic layer, and the organic layer contains a liquid crystal compound.
PHOTOELECTRIC CONVERSION DEVICE AND MANUFACTURING METHOD AND APPARATUS THEREOF
A method for manufacturing a photoelectric conversion device, that includes: forming a laminate structure of a substrate, a transparent electrode, an active layer produced by wet-coating, and a counter electrode, stacked in this order; and thereafter forming a cavity by: (a) pressing an adhesive material just against a defect formed on the surface of said counter electrode, and then peeling off said adhesive material together with said defect and the peripheral part thereof; or (b) sucking a defect formed on the surface of said counter electrode, so as to remove said defect and the peripheral part thereof, where said cavity penetrates through the counter electrode and unreached to the transparent electrode.
ORGANIC EL IMAGE DISPLAY DEVICE
The present invention provides an organic EL image display device including a reflecting layer, an organic electroluminescent layer group, a polarization separation layer, and a circularly polarizing plate in this order, in which the polarization separation layer includes polarization separation sites arranged in a matrix form corresponding to the organic electroluminescent layer group, the polarization separation site reflects light of one polarization state and transmits light of the other polarization state in light emitted from the corresponding organic electroluminescent layer, the polarization separation layer is divided by a visible light transmission region to form the polarization separation sites, and a wavelength range of the reflection is wider than a wavelength range of the light emission. The organic EL image display device according to the present invention has high brightness at the time of both front observation and oblique observation and little image blurring.
Circularly Polarized Light Emitting Organic Light Emitting Diodes
Disclosed herein are light emitting device that emit highly circularly polarized light. These devices may be used to form a dot-matrix display or an electronic information display comprised of a series of photopolymerizable, chiral liquid crystalline layers that can be solvent cast on a substrate. The mixture of chiral materials in each successive layer may be blended in such a way that each layer has the same chiral pitch and may also be blended so that the ordinary and extraordinary refractive indices in each layer match the other layers such that the complete assembly of layers will optically function as a single relatively thick layer of chiral liquid crystal. The chiral nematic material in each layer can spontaneously adopt a helical structure with a helical pitch. Further disclosed are pixel structures that not only emit light with brightness and chromaticity information, but also depth of focus information as well.
Dichroic azo compound and composition containing the same
A compound serving as a dichroic pigment which has a maximum absorption wavelength in a range of 350 nm to 510 nm is represented by the following Formula (1): ##STR00001##
In Formula (1), R.sup.1 represents a hydrogen atom or a C1-C20 alkyl group; R.sup.2 through R.sup.4 are substituents which are not hydrogen atoms and each independently represent a C1-C4 alkyl group; m, p, and q are each independently an integer of 0 to 2; and R.sup.5 is (i) a C1-C10 alkyl group in which a hydrogen atom is substituted by at least one hydroxy group or (ii) a C1-C10 alkyl group which has carbon atoms and in which at least one O is inserted between the carbon atoms.
DISPLAY DEVICE
A display device includes a substrate, first thin film transistors and second thin film transistors. A gate line is formed integrally with a first gate electrode of the first thin film transistors. An isolation insulating layer is disposed over a first gate insulating layer of the first thin film transistors. A second active layer of the second thin film transistors is disposed on the isolation insulating layer. An overlap pattern is disposed on the isolation insulating layer to be connected to the gate line. The overlap pattern includes a first overlap pattern disposed on the isolation insulating layer and formed of substantially the same material as the second active layer. A second overlap pattern is disposed on the first overlap pattern.
