FEED-THROUGH ELEMENT FOR HARSH ENVIRONMENTS
A feed-through element for harsh environments is provided that includes a support body with at least one access opening, in which at least one functional element is arranged in an electrically insulating fixing material. The electrically insulating fixing material contains a glass or a glass ceramic with a volume resistivity of greater than 1.010.sup.10 cm at the temperature of 350 C. The glass or a glass ceramic has a defined composition range in the system SiO.sub.2B.sub.2O.sub.3-MO.
Method and system for preparing a terminal for an insulated wire conductor
An exposed terminal for a wire conductor, and a process for preparing the exposed terminal includes executing, via a mechanical device, a mechanical ablation process to remove the insulative material from an outer surface of the plurality of square edges along a predefined length of the portion of the wire conductor. The process also includes executing, via a laser tool, a laser ablation process to remove the insulative material from the first pair of opposed faces along the predefined length of the portion of the wire conductor; and executing, via the laser tool, the laser ablation process to remove the insulative material from the second pair of opposed faces along the predefined length of the portion of the wire conductor.
Join having insulating component with partially crystallized glass
A join is provided that includes a first joining partner, a second joining partner having a surface, an electrically insulating component connecting the first joining partner in the second joining partner so that the first joining partner is electrically insulated from the second joining partner and so that the first joining partner extends from the surface. The electrically insulating component has a structure between the first and second joining partners that elongates from the surface along the first joining partner. The electrically insulating component and/or the structure is an at least partially crystallized glass.
Video fishing system with electrically-conductive fishing line
An electrical transmission line cable suited for a variety of applications, including as a fishing line in a video fishing system. The electrical transmission line cable has a first conductor and a second conductor forming an electrical transmission line; a jacket containing the first conductor and the second conductor; and a transmission line primary dielectric element separating the first conductor and the second conductor, wherein the primary dielectric element is at least one of textile yarns, fiber yarns, or monofilaments. The electrical transmission line may be in a balanced configuration or an unbalanced configuration.
SYSTEMS, METHODS AND TOOLS FOR THE INTERROGATION OF COMPOSITE STRENGTH MEMBERS
Systems, methods and tools for the interrogation of fiber-reinforced composite strength members to assess the structural integrity of the strength members. The systems and methods utilize the transmission of light through optical fibers that are embedded along the length of the strength members. The inability to detect light through one or more of the optical fibers may be an indication that the structural integrity of the strength member is compromised. The systems and methods may be implemented without great difficulty and may be implemented at any time in the life cycle of the strength member, from production through installation. The systems and methods have particular applicability to bare overhead electrical cables that include a fiber-reinforced strength member.

Capacitive power transmission cable
A capacitive power transmission cable, having at least two sets of conductive strands, the sets of strands being insulated from each other and in capacitive relationship, the one with the other: wherein the conductive strands are laid at least substantially in a multiples of six layer structure, with substantially equal numbers of strands of both sets; each layer has strands of one set alternating with strands of the other set; and the strands of the respective sets have different contrasting color.
INSULATED WIRES AND METHODS, AND APPARATUSES FOR FABRICATING INSULATED WIRE SEGMENTS
An insulated wire includes a core body comprising electrically-conductive material. The insulated wire also includes a permanent coating comprising electrically-insulating material and disposed on the core body to electrically insulate the core body. The insulated wire further includes a removable coating disposed on the permanent coating to provide the core body and the permanent coating with structural support during cutting of the core body and the permanent coating to the desired length.
