Illustrative embodiments may include a pneumatically-actuated instillation pump that can draw a solution from a solution source during a negative-pressure interval, and instill the solution to a dressing during a venting interval. A pneumatic actuator may be mechanically coupled to a disposable distribution system that can provide a fluid path between the solution source and a distribution component. A bacterial filter may be disposed in the fluid path between the actuator and the distribution component to prevent contamination of the actuator during operation. The distribution system may be separated from the actuator and disposed of after operation, and the actuator may be re-used.

The present invention comprises a fluid source connected to an irrigation feed line, an aspiration line providing at least a partial vacuum at a surgical site, at least one pressure sensor in communication with the aspiration line, and at least one valve in communication with the irrigation feed line, wherein the at least one valve restricts fluid flow in the irrigation feed line in accordance with at least one measurement of aspiration pressure differential and at least one predetermined system attribute, and wherein the aspiration pressure differential may equal a first measurement of aspiration pressure minus a second measurement of aspiration pressure over a predetermined time.

An enema device and a method for using the same are disclosed. The enema device includes a non-plastic container and a liquid delivery tube. The non-plastic container is made of glass, stainless steel, or ceramic. The non-plastic container includes a bottom wall and an annular sidewall extending upwardly from the peripheral of the bottom wall, wherein the bottom wall has a bottom planar surface. The liquid delivery tube is in fluid communication with a containing chamber of the non-plastic container. Therefore, harmful effects to the human body from plasticizer can be prevented.

A fluid management and medical device system may include a fluid management system and a medical device having one or more sensors proximate the distal end of the elongate shaft of the medical device. The controller of the fluid management system may be configured to calculate a fluid deficit when the distal end of the elongate shaft is disposed within a patient and configured to automatically pause fluid deficit calculation when the distal end of the elongate shaft is removed from the patient. In some instances the controller is configured to calculate the fluid deficit using rotational speed of the inflow pump in combination with a difference between a change in weight of a fluid supply source supplying fluid to the fluid management system and a change in weight of a collection container collecting fluid from the fluid management system.
