COMPLEX IRRIGATION/SUCTION FLOW PATH IN A MEDICAL DEVICE
A suction/irrigation medical device comprises a valve body having one or more conduits fluidically coupled thereto and a first channel extending through the valve body. The medical device also comprises a first valve plunger disposed along the first channel and configured to move along an axis to open and close the first channel. The first valve plunger has a first opening to permit a fluid to flow through the first channel. The medical device also comprises a second valve plunger disposed along the first channel and along a second channel to couple the second channel into the first channel when the second valve plunger is in a first position. The second valve plunger has a second opening that has at least one dimension that is greater than a corresponding dimension of the first opening of the first valve plunger.
Systems and methods for cleaning body cavities
This application presents methods and devices for continuously cleaning a colon by at least partially filling a segment of the colon with liquid and agitating the fluid to dislodge matter adhering to the colon walls. Methods for automatic maintenance of liquid levels in the colon during continuous cleaning are taught.
Medical Instrument for Minimally Invasive Therapy, Comprising at Least Two Separate Suction Lines
Disclosed is a medical instrument for use in minimally invasive therapy that generates, by at least two independent devices, an aspiration that advantageously causes the stability of the distension and the viewing conditions by adjusted flow rates.
Wound treatment apparatus and method
An apparatus for cleansing wounds in which irrigant fluid from a reservoir connected to a conformable wound dressing and wound exudate from the dressing are moved by a device (which may be a single pump or two pumps) for moving fluid through a flow path which passes through the dressing and a means for providing simultaneous aspiration and irrigation of the wound. The apparatus also comprises means to apply high frequency vibrational energy, e.g. ultrasound, to the wound bed. The former removes materials deleterious to wound healing, while distributing materials that are beneficial in promoting wound healing over the wound bed. The latter promotes healing. The dressing and a method of treatment using the apparatus.
System, Apparatus and Method for Maintaining Anterior Chamber Intraoperative Intraocular Pressure
A system for detecting intraocular pressure events during phacoemulsification surgery having a surgical console, a handpiece having a proximal end being communicatively connected to an irrigation line and an aspiration line; a first sensor in communication with the aspiration line or the irrigation line for providing a first measurement value; and a second sensor in communication with the aspiration line for providing a second measurement value; and wherein at least one characteristic of the irrigation fluid or aspiration fluid in their respective lines is changed in accordance with the difference between the first measurement value and the second measurement value. A system for calibrating patient eye level and wound leakage; detecting occlusion or post occlusion surge; determining BSS usage or remaining in a container; and detecting a fluid line abnormality using a first sensor and a second sensor in different configurations and differences in first and second measurement values.
Reducing uncomfortable side effects of abdominal distension in patients treated in hydrocolonic preparation units
Systems and methods are provided to limit abdominal distension and alleviate uncomfortable side effects related to it—in patients treated in hydrocolonic preparation units. Systems may comprise a water delivery unit comprising a controllable water supply, configured to introduce water controllably into the patient's large intestine, a drainage configured to drain, by gravity, the introduced water with contents of the patient's large intestine and a controller. The drainage comprises a drainage pipe and sensor(s) such as camera(s) configured to continuously measure the amount of drained water drained by the drainage pipe. The controller is configured to control the water introduction with respect to the measured amount of drained water, keeping an amount of water retained in the patient below a specified water retention threshold to reduce uncomfortable side effects of abdominal distension.
EAR CLEANING DEVICES AND METHODS
A system and method to irrigate a user's auditory canal. A fluid can be dispensed from a reservoir through a fluid path and out through openings of a delivery element into the auditory canal. A pump may be used to facilitate the process of dispensing the fluid. The fluid can be delivered to the user's auditory canal for a predetermined period of time. Such a time period may be user selectable. The discharge from the irrigation is removed from the user's auditory canal via a discharge port located on the delivery element. The discharge exits the delivery element and proceeds to a discharge reservoir via a discharge path. A vacuum may be used to generate a negative pressure to facilitate the removal of the discharge from the auditory canal.
DEVICE FOR IRRIGATING BODY CAVITIES, FOR EXAMPLE FOR HYSTEROSCOPY
The present patent application relates to a device for rinsing body cavities, as they are used, for instance, in the hysteroscopy, that determines, by using flow sensors, the introduced and discharged amount of rinsing liquid. Based on these flow measurements, it can be determined whether a relevant amount of liquid has been left in the patient.
MEDICAL WEIGHING SYSTEMS
A weighing system for medical applications may include a basin that has a base and a sloped sidewall that collectively form a bounded cavity with open top surface that receives and holds the material to be weighed. The basin may be free floating above the weighing device within a restricted range of travel. In some examples, the weighing system includes a thermal treatment device to adjust the temperature of the material in the basin. The rate at which heat is delivered to the basin may vary depending on the weight of the contents in the basin.
SYSTEMS AND METHODS FOR PROVIDING A PULSELESS PERISTALTIC PUMP
A system for a surgical system is disclosed, comprising system for distributing fluid in a surgical cassette, comprising at least one at least partially deformable bladder at least partially disposed on at least one rigid surface, wherein the bladder forms a portion of a channel, at least a first and second port in fluid communication with the channel, wherein the channel comprises at least two portions having a substantially uniform first dimension separated by a second portion have a second dimension, and wherein at least two pump head rollers are engaged with the bladder.
