HELMET WITH TRANSFORMABLE JAW PROTECTING STRUCTURE BASED ON GEAR CONSTRAINT
20180213877 · 2018-08-02 ·

The invention belongs to the technical field of helmets and relates to a helmet with a transformable jaw protecting structure, wherein a jaw protector is reliably transformed between a full-face helmet position and a half-face helmet position in a gear constraint structure and mode, and the uniqueness and reversibility of a kinematical and geometrical locus of the jaw protector can be kept everywhere during a round trip. The helmet according to the invention has the greatest advantages that: the integrity of a whole structure of the mount and the jaw protector can be kept while implementing a transformable jaw protecting structure of the helmet in the meanwhile, thus ensuring that these core members have higher intensity and rigidity, and effectively enhancing the use safety of the helmet; in addition, an exposed slit may be dramatically reduced or even completely eliminated, buzzing noises derived by flowing an air current through a helmet housing surface and rainwater invasion may be significantly reduced, and a wearing comfort of the helmet is effectively improved; and besides, the difficulty in assembling the mount and the jaw protector is reduced and a precise gear engagement and constraint structure is adopted, so that the quality reliability of a helmet product can be effectively improved.

HELMET COMPRISING A SEGMENTED SHELL

A helmet can include a helmet body comprising an energy-absorbing layer and an outer shell disposed over the energy-absorbing layer. An electronic device can be integrated with the helmet body. A first electrical contact can be formed at an exterior of the outer shell and adapted to be in electrical communication with the electronic device. A helmet visor can be coupled to the helmet body with at least one visor arm, the helmet visor comprising controls integrated within the visor. A second electrical contact can be formed at an inner surface of the at least one visor arm and adapted to be in electrical communication with the controls integrated within the visor. The second electrical contact can be adapted to mateably couple with the first electrical contact such that the electronic device and the controls are adapted to be in electrical contact.

A pressure attenuating helmet is provided including separate plates having a plate thickness, an outer surface, under surface, and adjacent edges. The plates joined along the adjacent edges to the other ones of the plurality of plates, forming a helmet shell. Perforated flanges formed along the under surface at the adjacent edges of the plates, the flanges formed inwardly along a line from the adjacent edge of each of the plates extending in the direction of the thickness of the plates. Perforation in the flanges spaced equidistantly in an array along a long direction of the flanges, enabled to accept sutures and aligned flange-to-flange. A network of elastomer splines shaped and positioned to separate the adjacent plates both along the adjacent edges and the perforated flanges. Sutures through the perforations securing the plates together along the adjacent edges and foam cushions are provided between the plates and a wearers head.
