The pump additionally includes a control module, which is configured to drive the paddle to alternate between first time periods in which the paddle applies pressure to the first container so as to pump the fluid therefrom, and second time periods in which the paddle applies the pressure to the second container so as to pump the fluid therefrom.
A System for Anal or Stomal Irrigation, and a Method for Predicting a Temperature of an Irrigation Liquid in a Reservoir of such System
A system for anal or stomal irrigation comprises a reservoir (102) for an irrigating liquid; a catheter (100) comprising a catheter tip for insertion into the rectum or stoma, a thermo sensor (128) connected to the reservoir for obtaining a measure of a temperature within the reservoir, a tubing system and/or the catheter. A control system (103) operatively connected with the thermo sensor is configured to determine a temperature within the reservoir. A method for predicting a temperature in a reservoir for irrigation liquid is also provided.
SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR MONITORING AND CONTROLLING INTRAUTERINE PRESSURE USING A PRESSURE CUFF
A method of determining a pressure of a body cavity with a controller of a fluid management system includes determining a pressure and a volume of a cuff disposed about a collapsible bag, determining a volume of the collapsible bag based on the pressure and the volume of the cuff, and determining a pressure of the collapsible bag based on the volume of the collapsible bag. The method also includes calculating a fluid flow from the collapsible bag into a body cavity from the collapsible bag and determining a pressure of the body cavity based on the fluid flow.
DEVICE AND METHOD TO FACILITATE PLEURODESIS FOR MANAGEMENT OF FLUID DRAINAGE
A device, method, and system are provided for treating pleural effusion by administration of a chemical agent through a pleural catheter to achieve pleurodesis. A first embodiment includes a dual barreled syringe to deliver the sclerosing agent; one barrel includes a sclerosing agent, and the other barrel includes a flushing fluid. A kit of the invention comprises a plurality of syringe devices each preloaded with a sclerosing agent matched with a presumptive diagnosis regarding the etiology of the pleural effusion to be treated. A device of the invention includes a handheld, disposable, electronic delivery device with preloaded chambers holding selected medicaments and flushing fluid. Automatic delivery of medicaments is achieved in which a microcontroller of the device controls evacuation of the selected chambers by one or more actuators that communicate with the chambers.
COLON CLEANING SYSTEM WITH AUTOMATIC SELF-PURGING FEATURES
Systems and methods for cleaning a colon or other portion of an intestine include optional use of sensors to detect conditions of blockage of flow of materials within an evacuation channel used to remove fecal material from the body; and devices and methods for purging such blockages from the evacuation channel.
Powered Lavage Handle and Associated Use Therefore
A lavage handle for facilitating at least one of an irrigation function and a suctioning function at a target zone preferably includes a portable body, a power-operated fluid-displacing mechanism in communication with said body wherein said fluid-displacing mechanism has one of a first operating mode for inducing outward irrigation of fluid towards the target zone and a second operating mode for inducing inward suction of fluid from the target zone. An actuation mechanism is located at said body and operable communicated with said fluid-displacing mechanism such that said fluid-displacing mechanism is selectively operated in at least one of said first operating mode and said second operating mode. The actuation mechanism may include an irrigation-inducing mechanism and/or a suction-inducing mechanism.
METHOD FOR ANALYZING FLUID CONTAINER
An apparatus for determining the volume of a liquid in a container. A digital camera is provided to view the container. A processor can optically detect certain characteristics of the container as viewed by the camera and accesses a computer memory having stored characteristics of a plurality of known containers, and the compare the detected certain characteristics with the stored characteristics to identify the container from the plurality of known containers. The processor can calculate the volume of the container as a function of the distance between the first and second ends of the container as viewed by the camera. The processor can receive at least one image from the camera and determine whether the liquid in the container contains any air pockets based on the at least one image. Methods are provided, including a method for use by an apparatus having a camera and a processor electrically coupled to the camera to confirm the dosage of a medicament in a container.
CLEANING INSTRUMENT FOR LARGE INTESTINE
