STATUS OF AN IRRIGATION PUMP
20170191904 · 2017-07-06 · ·

A pump, including a compression compartment configured to receive, between first and second sides of the compartment, a flexible container holding a fluid and having an outlet; The pump also has a pump mechanism that is coupled to drive the first and second sides of the compartment together so as to force the fluid out of the container through the outlet. There are first and second electrodes the are fixed respectively to the first and second sides. The pump also includes a processor that is coupled to measure a capacitance between the first and second electrodes and to estimate, responsively to the capacitance, a volume of the fluid remaining in the container.

SYSTEM AND METHODS AND PORTABLE BASE FOR BOWEL IRRIGATION

A portable base for a system for irrigation of the bowels of a user is provided. The portable base comprises a canister unit for an irrigation liquid, and a lid unit for engaging with the canister unit. In particular, the lid unit of the portable base comprises a rim portion comprising a rotatable skirt that is rotatably arranged around the rim portion. The portable base is adapted to be shifted between an unsealed configuration and a sealed configuration by rotating the skirt. The arrangement of the rotatable skirt on the rim portion facilitates easier shifting between the unsealed and sealed configuration, and vice versa, because less torque is required to be applied by the user for the sealing/unsealing. A system for irrigating the bowels of a user and a method of sealing the system and a method of irrigating the bowels of a user is also provided.

An irrigation system is disclosed. The system comprises a housing comprising a reservoir for containing an irrigation liquid; a tubing providing fluid communication between the reservoir and a catheter for use with the irrigation system; a pump for facilitating a flow of irrigation liquid from the reservoir, through the tubing, to the catheter; and a control unit comprising a processor in communication with the pump; a capacitive sensor in communication with the processor and configured to measure one or more capacitive characteristics of a fluid in the tubing. The processor is configured to control the irrigation procedure in accordance with the one or more capacitive characteristics of the fluid in the tubing. Also disclosed is an associated method.
