Intravenous tubing set modified for in-line catheter flushing
An intravenous tubing set is provided having a coupling component for accessing a source of flush solution; a flush chamber; a first IV tubing for delivering saline solution from the source of flush solution to the flush chamber; a first flow control device disposed in the tubing between the source of flush solution and the flush chamber to control the flow of flush solution into the flush chamber; a second IV tubing for delivering flush solution to a patient catheter; and a second flow control device disposed in the second tubing between the flush chamber and the patient catheter.
Collapsible Syringe Barrel Disinfection Cap
Flush syringe assemblies are described herein. Such flush syringe assembly may include a collapsible syringe barrel including a corrugated side wall defining a chamber, a closed proximal end, a distal end having a distal wall with an elongate tip extending distally therefrom having a passageway therethrough in fluid communication with said chamber, a pre-selected amount of sterile fluid in the chamber, and a locking element. A collar may be disposed on the distal wall of the barrel and surrounding the elongate tip. An absorbent material and disinfectant or antimicrobial agent may be disposed in a compartment of the collar.
SELF-FLUSHING PORTS
A fluid conduit has a housing with a body forming an interior and a proximal cavity within the interior. The housing has an outlet and a fluid path extending between the cavity and outlet. The conduit also has an entry channel and a contact surface. The entry channel extends through the housing distal to the cavity and has a radial longitudinal axis. The entry channel is offset from the fluid path such that the radial longitudinal axis of the entry channel does not intersect a longitudinal axis of the fluid path. This offset causes fluid entering the interior of the housing via the entry channel to initiate a swirl-like motion within the interior. A portion of the contact surface is distal to the cavity and intersects the radial longitudinal axis. The surface directs a portion of the fluid proximally into the cavity.
Apparatus and methods of dispensing fluid intravenously and flushing lines of intravenous fluid administration systems
Apparatus and methods of dispensing fluid intravenously to a subject, and of flushing a line of an intravenous fluid administration apparatus, are provided. The apparatus may include a reservoir pump configured to operate in fluid communication with an upstream source of a first fluid and a downstream pressure-operated valve. The apparatus may also include a port connector configured to operate in fluid communication with at least the pressure-operated valve. The reservoir pump may also be configured to, during operation, automatically refill itself with the first fluid from the first upstream source. The downstream pressure-operated valve may be configured to operate in fluid communication with the reservoir pump and a second fluid source upstream of the pressure-operated valve, and to, during operation, dispense the first fluid to tubing downstream of the pressure-operated valve based on a pressure condition within the pressure-operated valve exceeding a threshold pressure.
Flush syringe with flip cap
Flush syringe assemblies are described herein. Such flush syringe assembly may include a barrel including a side wall defining a chamber, a collar mounted on a distal wall of the barrel and surrounding an elongate tip. A cap may be attached to the collar via a hinge. The flush syringe assembly may also include a cap attached to the collar via a hinge. A ring may be disposed around the collar with a locking element that engages with a corresponding mating locking projection on the cap. The cap may include a slanted surface. The slanted surface of the cap may include one or more ribs made of an elastomeric material.
SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR DELIVERING A FLUID WITH A CONSISTENT TOTAL VOLUMETRIC FLOWRATE
Provided is a method for delivering a medical fluid. The method includes delivering a fluid volume, which includes contrast and/or a flush fluid, at a preselected total volumetric flowrate during a first duration of a fluid delivery procedure. The amount of the contrast agent and the flush fluid in the fluid volume can be controllably varied during the first duration of the fluid delivery procedure so as to substantially maintain a preselected total volumetric flowrate throughout the first duration of the fluid delivery procedure. Also provided is a fluid delivery system capable of performing this method.
MEDICAL INFUSION SYSTEM
A medical infusion system includes a hose line with a distal end region for connection to an infusion reservoir and a proximal end region that has a patient connection port. The patient connection port has a closure device with an air-permeable and liquid-tight design. The system can be used in the medical sector for intravenous medication.
TREATMENT METHOD
A treatment method is disclosed capable of reducing the burden on a patient and enhancing the effect of killing tumor cells. The method includes administering an antibody-photosensitive substance into a vein; inserting an endoscope from a mouth, a nose, or an anus and bringing the endoscope to a vicinity of a tumor after the administering of the antibody-photosensitive substance into the vein; placing an optical fiber into the tumor or in the vicinity of the tumor; irradiating at least one of the tumor, the vicinity of the tumor, or a regional lymph node with a first near-infrared ray by the optical fiber; and irradiating the antibody-photosensitive substance bound to a tumor cell membrane in the tumor cell with a second near-infrared ray after the irradiating with the first near-infrared ray, the second near-infrared ray having a shorter wavelength than that of the first near-infrared ray.
Medical tools and intravenous system
An introduction of medical tools to this invention that enables the improvement of flushing of sterile solutions, medications and the collection of blood specimen(s). In addition, an introduction of intravenous system whereby the healthcare provider can perform the tasks of flushing the intravenous site efficiently and collecting blood specimen using the combination of medical tools. Most importantly, these tools included in this invention preserve and protect intravenous lines from malfunctioning.
Treatment method
A treatment method is disclosed capable of reducing the burden on a patient and enhancing the effect of killing tumor cells. A treatment method for killing a tumor cell, the method including inserting a catheter into a main artery of an organ having the tumor cell, administering an antibody-photosensitive substance into a vein before the inserting of the catheter, inserting an optical fiber into the catheter, reducing an influence of blood in the artery on a near-infrared ray, irradiating at least one of a tumor, the vicinity of the tumor, or a regional lymph node with a first near-infrared ray by the optical fiber, and irradiating an antibody-photosensitive substance bound to a tumor cell membrane in the tumor cell with a second near-infrared ray having a shorter wavelength than that of the first near-infrared ray.
