Systems and Methods for Automatic Intravenous Injections

Systems and methods for automatic intravenous injection in accordance with embodiments of the invention are illustrated. One embodiment includes a method for automatically injecting a needle into a vein. The method includes steps for identifying an injection position using a first set of one or more sensors, positioning an injection mechanism at the identified injection position, and vertically inserting a needle until entry in a vein is detected using a second set of one or more sensors.

SUBCUTANEOUS INSERTION MECHANISM WITH AUTOMATIC RETRACTION VIA PRE-ENERGIZED RELEASE AND LATCHING MEMBER

Provided is an insertion mechanism with increased reliability and reduced components. The insertion mechanism uses a single engagement and release clip compressed within a housing of the insertion mechanism to engage a needle hub and catheter hub. A button is provided to move the catheter hub and needle hub in a distal direction until the engagement and release clip reaches a firing window in the mechanism housing. The engagement and release clip expands in the release window to release the needle hub from the catheter hub, permitting a return spring to move the insertion needle proximally while leaving the catheter inserted, and also retains the catheter hub in the deployed position.

APPARATUS FOR RETAINING AND SEALING SEPTUM IN INSERTION MECHANISM FOR FLUID DELIVERY DEVICE

An improved wedge is provided for a septum and wedge subassembly in a fluid path of a fluid delivery device such as for use in a catheter insertion mechanism of a patch pump. The wedge has a retaining edge to provide axial force to retain a septum therein to obviate need for additional insertion mechanism components to retain the septum in place as a needle passes therethrough to facilitate insertion of a catheter and then retracts. The retaining edge can be rolled or flanged to extend at least partially over a surface of the septum. The wedge is also configured to provide radial compression on the septum to achieve a sufficient needle and septum interface seal to withstand a filling pressure of the fluid delivery device.

Peritoneal dialysis system and methods

Described herein are systems and methods for performing peritoneal dialysis. According to one aspect, the disclosure provides a sterile interface connection for connecting a water purification system to a disposable source of dialysate concentrates. The sterile interface connection can include a chamber comprising an inlet adapted to be connected to the water purification system on a proximal end and a valve on a distal end. The sterile interface connection can also include spring-loaded needle disposed in the chamber. The spring-loaded needle can move between a retracted configuration in which the spring-loaded needle is fully retracted into the chamber and the valve is closed and sealed, and an extended configuration in which the spring-loaded needle extends through the valve into the disposable source of dialysate concentrates.

Systems and methods for facilitating instrument delivery through a peripheral intravenous catheter

A system for facilitating instrument delivery through a peripheral intravenous catheter may include a catheter adapter having a proximal end, a distal end, and a lumen extending there through. The catheter adapter may include a side port. The system may include an extension tube extending from the side port. The system may include a blood control valve disposed in the lumen of the catheter adapter. The system may include a peripheral intravenous catheter extending distally from the catheter adapter.

A catheter assembly includes: a catheter; a catheter hub fixed to the catheter; an inner needle inserted through the catheter; a grip fixed to and holding the inner needle; a first support portion, which is a member separate from the grip and is configured to support an outer side of the catheter; and a second support portion, which is a member separate from the grip, has at least a part that is located at a position facing the first support portion, and is configured to support the outer side of the catheter. The first support portion and the second support portion are releasably engaged with each other.

TAP BLOCK INJECTION DEVICE

A device for performing a transversus abdominis plane (TAP) block anesthetic injection during a laparoscopic surgical procedure. The device includes a handle, a needle fixed to the handle, and a sheath covering the needle. The sheath is slidably retractable via a thumb-operated slider on the handle. In a first position for device insertion, the sheath fully covers the tip of the needle, preventing the needle from puncturing any organ or tissue in the patient. In a second position, the sheath is retracted using the slider to expose the needle tip, enabling insertion of the needle tip into the appropriate tissue and injection of the anesthetic. The needle and sheath have a length suitable for reaching the desired abdominal location from outside the body through the laparoscopic port. A threaded luer and tube, fluidly coupled to the needle, are used to push the anesthetic through the needle and into the tissue.

SYSTEMS AND METHODS FOR MONITORING DELIVERY OF MICRODOSES OF MEDICATION

Devices, systems, and methods are provided herein for delivering medication (e.g., insulin) via a wearable pump having a patch-style form factor for adhesion to a user's body. The reusable pump may be coupled to a disposable cap housing a microdosing system for delivering precise, repeatable doses of medication to a cannula configured to deliver medication to a target infusion area beneath the user's outer skin layer. The system further may include an applicator for inserting the cannula into the user's skin and/or applying an adhesive pad to the skin.

TENSIONED INFUSION SYSTEMS WITH REMOVABLE HUBS

Devices, kits and methods described herein are be used at chronic injection site or in conjunction with an indwelling catheter or cannula. A book-like packaging, applicator and/or tensioning device with an opening and optional indicia to align the catheter or cannula to the opening may be used to apply a dressing to a subject. The packaging, applicator and/or tensioning device may apply and/or maintain a strain in an elastic dressing.
