Fluid delivery device
A fluid delivery device comprises a housing having a fluid reservoir. A needle is in fluid communication with the fluid reservoir in an engaged position and out of fluid communication with the fluid reservoir in armed and storage positions. A proximal end of a biasing member is coupled to the housing and a distal end of the biasing member is configured to deliver a force to the fluid reservoir. A piston member extends through the biasing member and is coupled to the distal end of the biasing member. The piston member is fixed with respect to the housing in a locked position such that the biasing member does not deliver the force to the fluid reservoir and moveable with respect to the housing in a released position such that the biasing member delivers the force to the fluid reservoir. Transitioning the needle from the storage position to the armed position transitions the piston from the locked position to the released position.
Single step removal of cannula guard and adhesive liner in medical device
A medical device includes a body and a cannula extending from the body, for insertion into a patient's skin. The medical device also includes a guard covering the cannula, an adhesive for securing the medical device to the patient's skin, and an adhesive liner covering the adhesive. The guard is connected to the adhesive liner to enable conjoint and at least partial removal of the guard and the adhesive liner.
Fluid transfer device or set with retractable needle and septum
A sealed fluid transfer device comprised of tubing, a proximal fitting, and a distal needle assembly is provided. The needle assembly includes a needle hub secured to a needle cannula. A cantilevered actuator arm extends outwardly from the needle hub having an actuator button at its free end. The needle assembly is disposed in a barrel and can move from a distal position, where the needle is exposed, to a proximal position, where the needle is shielded. The barrel includes a septum which seals the barrel. A spring is disposed in the barrel for propelling the needle assembly to the proximal position. The barrel includes an aperture that receives the actuator button for locking the spring in a compressed condition. Depression of the actuator button enables the spring to propel the needle assembly into its proximal position. A safety mechanism prevents inadvertent depression of the actuator button.
BLOOD COLLECTION DEVICES, SYSTEMS, AND METHODS
A vascular access system which may be configured for blood draw may include a housing, which may include a distal end, a proximal end, and a slot disposed between the distal end and the proximal end. The slot may include a notch. The vascular access system may include a cannula hub, which may be disposed within the housing and movable with respect to the slot. The cannula hub may include a tab extending through the slot. The vascular access system may include a cannula extending distally from the cannula hub. In response to the tab being disposed within the notch, a distal tip of the cannula may be disposed within the housing. In response to advancing the tab along the slot to a distal end of the slot, the distal tip of the cannula is disposed distal to the distal end of the housing.
Reduced Trauma Micro-Preemie Catheter System
A catheter system that includes a proximal hub having a body with a first end, a second end, and a first internal communication lumen. The catheter system includes an introducer apparatus connected to the proximal hub, the apparatus having a distal end and a second internal communication lumen in communication with the first internal communication lumen. A portion of the introducer apparatus extends from the second end of the proximal hub. The catheter system includes a distal hub having a body with a first end, a second end, and a third internal communication lumen in communication with the first internal communication lumen. The catheter system includes a catheter having a fourth internal communication lumen, the catheter extends through the first, second, and third internal communication lumens and a portion of the catheter extends from the distal end of the introducer apparatus. The introducer apparatus may be a non-splitting thin-walled sheath.
Safety needle system operable with a medical device
A safety needle system operable with a medical device includes: a housing with a needle mount having a needle; and a sheath telescopically engaged with the housing and surrounding the needle such that the sheath operates in a retracted position, in which the sheath exposes the needle, and an extended position, in which the sheath surrounds the needle. The sheath is coupleable to the medical device such that removal of the needle from the medical device draws the sheath over the needle, transitioning the sheath from the retracted position to the extended position. The system can include a slider engaged with the sheath and/or housing and including a restraint that engages and disengages the sheath to respectively reinforce and weaken the coupling of the sheath and medical device. The sheath can include a longitudinal track that slidingly engages a setting of the housing between sheath positions.
NEEDLE STICK PROTECTION DEVICE
A needle stick protection device includes a distal shield member having a slot which allows a needle to freely pass between shielded and unshielded positions an infinite number of times. The needle stick protection device also includes a proximal base member and a hinge connecting the distal shield member to the proximal base member. A locking mechanism secures the proximal base member to the distal shield member. The locking mechanism includes a compressive sleeve of the distal shield member and a distal cylindrical collar of the proximal base member, which frictionally fit together in a manner securing the proximal base member and the distal shield member.
INFUSION SET WITH SAFETY DEVICE
An infusion base for attachment to a user of an infusion set comprises an adapter having a lower portion, an inner wall portion, and a gap between the lower portion and the inner wall portion. At least one of the lower portion and the inner wall portion is configured to receive an attachment.
Passive safety huber needle
A safety needle system includes a safety mechanism for a needle assembly, such as a Huber needle. A main body has a channel having a proximal end to encompass tubing and a distal end for positioning proximate a needle. The main body further has a first hinge mechanism and a first latching mechanism. A movable cover has needle receptacle, a second hinge mechanism connected with the first hinge mechanism of the main body, and a biasing member for pivoting movable cover about the first and second hinge mechanisms relative to the main body. The movable cover has a second latching mechanism to latch with the first latching mechanism in a closed position, in which the safety mechanism can be undocked from the needle and slid away from the needle along the tubing. The movable cover has a release mechanism to allow pivoting of the movable cover about the hinge mechanisms such that the needle receptacle of the movable cover at least partially receives the needle of the needle assembly in an open, locked position.
