20190151550 · 2019-05-23 ·

A medicament container holder for securing a medicament container having a generally tubular body arranged with a proximally directed neck portion and a flange portion arranged with a pierceable septum. The medicament container holder has mechanical holding elements that interact with the flange portion for preventing movement of the medicament container in a distal direction and having mechanical fixation elements configured to interact with the flange portion for urging the flange portion in the distal direction against the holding elements, where the medicament container holder has attachment elements for a medicament delivery member. The mechanical fixation elements are configured to engage with the medicament delivery member when attached to the attachment elements, such as to exert a force in the distal direction on said flange portion.

The sheathed pharmaceutical cartridges described herein are resistant to structural damage such as burst and damage that can occur in and during activation of an auto-injector system. The cartridges having the protective sheath described herein are resistant to damaging forces generated in austere or demanding environments. In one embodiment, the glass cartridge can include a force absorption sheath to distribute and dissipate stress that extends from the outer surface of the body of the glass and positioned around at least a portion of the outer surface. In one embodiment, the recovered inner diameter of the sheath post-manufacture applies an inward compressive force on the body of glass.

Injection device

The injection device includes a static structure including a first gear member. The injection device also includes a dynamic structure including a medicine container, a mechanism for pushing liquid medicine out of the medicine container for its injection to a patient, and a second gear member engaged with the first gear member. The injection device additionally includes a drive member for driving one of the first and second gear members so as to cause the dynamic structure to move relative to the static structure along a predetermined direction due to the engagement between the first and second gear members. The injection device further includes a clutch mechanism for maintaining engagement between the first and second gear members in normal condition of the injection device, and for allowing disengagement of the first and second gear members upon a shock received by the injection device along the predetermined direction.

IMPACT ACTIVATED RETENTION FEATURE FOR DRUG DELIVERY DEVICE

A drug delivery device includes a housing having proximal and distal ends and a longitudinal axis extending therebetween, an injection assembly at least partially disposed within the housing including a needle or a cannula, a drive assembly operably coupled with the injection assembly, a shield slidably coupled with the housing and operably coupled with the drive assembly, and a retention mechanism. The drive assembly is engageable to deliver a medicament via the injection assembly. The shield is positionable in an extended position in which at least a proximal end extends a distance beyond the proximal end of the housing and a retracted position where the proximal end of the housing protrudes a distance beyond the proximal end of the shield. Moving the shield to the retracted position engages the drive assembly to deliver the medicament via the injection assembly. The retention mechanism limits movement of the drive assembly to restrict engagement thereof such that the drive assembly is restricted from delivering the medicament via the injection assembly.
