Mixing and/or reconstitution system

Systems and methods for mixing and/or reconstituting drugs are presented. A system may include an injection device, a vial, a needle, and a base station. The device has a chamber containing a first material. The vial has a chamber containing a second material. A drive unit of the base station moves the vial and/or the housing of the device relative to each other into an activated position. In the activated position, the needle is fluidly connected with the vial's chamber, and the drive unit is connected to a driver that moves the plunger in the axial direction of the device such that during fluid connection of the needle with the vial's chamber the first material is expelled from the device's chamber into the vial's chamber or the second material is expelled from the vial's chamber into the device's chamber.

The mixing system includes an adaptor, an integrated injection device removably attached to the adaptor comprising a switching element, a first reservoir containing a fluidic first material, and a trigger. The adaptor includes a first attachment location configured to attach a vial. The vial contains a second material within a second reservoir, wherein the second material contains a medicament formulation. The adaptor also includes a first connection element, a flow channel providing fluid communication of the switching element and the first connection element, a sensing arrangement for detecting a pre-defined position of the vial at the first attachment location, and an interlock element which is configured to allow operation of the trigger in order to establish a fluid communication between the first connection element and the first reservoir only if the sensing arrangement detects the pre-defined position of the vial at the first attachment location.

Injection device, in particular autoinjector, for the simultaneous administration of several medications

An injection device is disclosed for the administration of several medications. The injection device includes a carrying housing, an activation sleeve surrounding the carrying housing, at least two carpules, a first drive module for the administration of the medications, a securing device, a needle arrangement, a needle protection element, and a second triggerable drive module for the needle arrangement. The first drive module includes a drive element with a number of piston rods equal to the number of carpules. At least one of the piston rods is configured in the form of a hollow cylinder the is closed on the piston side, wherein arranged inside this is a first drive means of the first drive module. The first drive means can be arranged in an accommodation part of the drive element, wherein the accommodation part forms with the piston rods a composite structural unit.

SYRINGE SYSTEM

A medication component mixing system is formed of a first syringe, such as a female syringe, and a second syringe such as a male syringe, wherein the system is configured to mix a female portion and a male portion of the medication. The female syringe and the male syringe mechanically couple to one another in an end-to-end fashion for mixing of the contents of the female and male portions.

Various implementations include a mixing vial system. The system includes a hypodermic syringe and a mixing vial. The mixing vial includes a vessel, a stopper, and a dislodgeable plug. The vessel includes an open end, a closed end, and a side wall. A hollow interior chamber is defined by the side wall and the closed end. The open end defines a neck. The stopper includes an open proximal end, a closed distal end, and a stopper side wall. The closed distal end and the stopper side wall define a hollow interior chamber. The stopper is positioned in a sealing relationship within the neck. The dislodgeable plug is positioned in and sealing the open proximal end of the stopper. The closed distal end of the stopper is penetrable by a needle of the hypodermic syringe to dislodge the dislodgeable plug to effect mixing of contents of the stopper and the vessel.

The present invention generally relates to a mixing nozzle (12) for mixing at least two liquid compositions such as a first liquid composition and a second liquid composition. The mixing nozzle (10) is configured to be coupled to a body (11) of a multi-component application device (10), in particular to a body (11) of a two-component syringe assembly, for injection of a liquid composition, which body (11) is configured to separately store said at least two solutions. The present invention further relates to a multi-component application device (10) comprising said mixing nozzle (12) and to a kit comprising said mixing nozzle (12) or said application device (10). Furthermore, the present invention relates to a method using said application device or said kit, for example for replacing or filling a biological tissue or increasing the volume of a biological tissue.

A drug delivery device configured to provide a dose of a first medicament followed by a dose of a second medicament is disclosed. The device includes a main exterior body and an interior body. The device further includes a dual-chamber reservoir with (i) a first chamber holding the first medicament and (ii) a second chamber holding the second medicament. The device also includes a needle and a plunger. After activation of the device, the plunger is configured to (i) move the dual-chamber reservoir a given distance in a distal direction with respect to the interior body so that a distal end of the needle extends out of the interior body and (ii) after moving the dual-chamber reservoir the given distance, move in the distal direction with respect to the dual-chamber reservoir so as to eject from the needle the first medicament followed by the second medicament.

Injection system and method

An injection system includes a syringe body defining a proximal opening at a proximal end thereof and a distal needle interface at a distal end thereof. The system also includes proximal and distal stopper members disposed in the syringe body, forming respective proximal and distal drug chambers. The system further includes a plunger member configured to be manually manipulated to insert the proximal stopper member relative to the syringe body. Moreover, the system includes a fluid conveying assembly including a penetrating member configured to penetrate the distal stopper member to fluidly couple the proximal and distal drug chambers, a distal exit tube, and a transfer member disposed at least partially around a portion of the penetrating member and defining a fluid passage. A distal end of the penetrating member is disposed in the distal exit tube.

A dual-chamber syringe may include an end wall and a primary plunger. The primary plunger may include a primary stopper. The primary stopper may form a primary chamber with the end wall. A secondary plunger may be in mechanical association with the primary plunger. The secondary plunger may include a secondary stopper. The secondary stopper may form a secondary chamber with the primary stopper. A primary nozzle may extend from the end wall and may be in fluid communication with the primary chamber. A secondary nozzle may extend from the end wall and may be in fluid communication with the secondary chamber.

Flow communication unit with preservative

An assembly includes a sealed drug reservoir unit, a subcutaneous flow conducting device in the form of a needle unit or an infusion set, and a flow communication unit. The flow communication unit includes a proximal hollow needle adapted to penetrate a needle-penetrable septum of the reservoir, a first flow-way inflow communication with the proximal needle and comprising a pressure-controlled valve, a second flow-way in flow communication with the first flow-way, an amount of preservative arranged to react with a substance received by the second flow-way, and distal flow communication structure adapted to provide flow communication between the second flow-way and the needle unit. The valve is controlled to open when the reservoir is pressurized, the preservative being provided to react with substances introduced to the second flow way via the needle unit.
