A drug delivery device is provided for delivering a drug to a target tissue site. The drug delivery device comprises a body comprising a proximal end and a distal end and a chamber disposed therebetween. An upper portion is disposed about the proximal end of the body. A retaining member is disposed within a wall of the body and engageable with the chamber and a plunger is configured for disposal within the upper portion and the chamber. The upper portion is movable about the proximal end of the body to open the chamber such that the plunger is disposed within a passageway defined within the chamber, and movement of the plunger in a distal direction pushes the retaining member such that the drug moves out of the body. Methods are also disclosed.

The invention relates to a pre-filled injection device for apportioning set dose of a liquid drug. The pre-filled injection device is of the type wherein a permanently mounted injection needle is cleaned in a cleaning reservoir between injections. The purpose of the invention is to provide a mechanism by which the cleaning reservoir can be filled with preservative containing liquid drug from the cartridge upon proximal movement of the needle hub in a linear movement.

An injector may include a container having a wall with an interior surface and a seal assembly with an interior surface, the interior surfaces of the wall and the seal assembly defining a closed sterile reservoir filled with a drug product. The coupling element (114) is arranged for engagement with an engagement part (220) of the dosing device or adaptor to clip the cartridge (100) to the dosing device or adaptor (200) upon insertion of the cartridge to the dosing device or adaptor, and the seal arrangement (126, 129) is disposed distally with respect to the sealing element (128) and is arranged to form a seal around the release member (214; 254) when the cartridge is coupled to the dosing device or adaptor.

An automatic medication injection device that provides a user with audible notice of injecting progress. The device in one form includes a plurality of sound elements located on drive mechanism portion that inserts within a barrel of a container of medication to advance a sealing plunger of that container. The device also includes at least one actuating element movable axially with the container of medication within the device housing, which at least one actuating is element arranged to engage the plurality of sound elements to generate audible notices as the advancing portion moves past the at least one actuating element when advancing the sealing plunger for an injection.

Apparatus for removably attaching a syringe to a container for extracting fluid therefrom into the syringe, which is particularly beneficial for fluid having a relatively high viscosity. The disclosed container adapter holds a syringe adapter securely therein (the syringe adapter configured for providing a fluid path between a container and a syringe) while also securing the syringe adapter to the container, and provides an attachment point for securely attaching the syringe to the syringe adapter and thus to the container (at least) while the fluid is withdrawn from the container into the syringe. The syringe is removably attached to an end of the syringe adapter during the withdrawal, and a cap is provided that closes entry and exit to this attachment point when the syringe is not in place. The cap preferably attaches to the syringe adapter using a connection that mimics the connection used by the syringe.

The present disclosure relates to a medicament delivery device includes a housing configured to receive a cartridge containing a medicament, an injection needle having a proximal end and a distal end, an injection needle holder to which the injection needle is fixed, the injection needle holder being moveable relative to the housing between a rest position and a use position, and an injection needle cap detachably connected to the injection needle holder and enclosing the proximal end of the injection needle. The medicament delivery device is configured such that pushing the injection needle cap towards the cartridge causes the injection needle holder to move from the rest position in which the distal end of the injection needle is spaced from the cartridge towards the use position in which the distal end of the injection needle can engage the cartridge.
