SMART VIAL ADAPTER AND METHOD
20220305209 · 2022-09-29 · ·

A smart vial adapter is capable of measuring the dose of a drug that is withdrawn from a vial, measuring the time of a dose capture event, monitoring the vial temperature, measuring the amount of motion or perturbation the vial is subjected to, capturing various other parameters that can provide additional insights associated with the drug or the amount of the dose being drawn from the vial, and communicating the recorded information to a companion application on a computer, smartphone or other device. Related methods are also disclosed and claimed.

SYSTEM FOR ENHANCING DATA QUALITY OF DISPENSE DATA SETS

A method for enhancing data quality of a drug dose dispense data set to automatically provide dispense data reflecting actually injected dose amounts. For a given dispense session the method comprises the steps of creating a list of possible dispense patterns in accordance with a set of pattern rules and then for each pattern in the list calculate a weight allowing a winning pattern to be determined. Each dispense pattern is a particular sequence of priming events and injection events, with each dispense pattern being a possible interpretation of the dispense events in the current session. For each pattern a combined pattern weight being the product of weight factors for each dispense in the pattern is calculated, wherein each weight factor is determined in accordance with a weight factor vs dispense size function for the given dispense type and dispense size, wherein the larger the dispense size, the more likely it is to represent an injection event and the less likely it is to represent a priming event.

An injection tool and associated methods are shown. Example tools and methods described provide cooling to numb a local area prior to an injection. The local numbing can be used to reduce or eliminate pain associated with the subsequent injection. In selected examples, circuitry and one or more sensors are used to calculate an appropriate contact time of a heat sink with the local region to best provide a desired amount of numbing.

Medical delivery device with regimen identification feature

A drug delivery system comprising a controller adapted to detect when a given user-actuated operation being part of the expelling of an amount of drug is performed, record detected operations as a function of time, and estimate, based on recorded operations, time parameters for the detected operations, thereby providing time parameters for a medical regimen on which the detected operations are assumed to be based upon.

Aspects of the present disclosure disclose a system for delivering a medication. In one aspect, the disclosure is directed to a medical dispensing device that includes a label with a series of zones of varying widths, with each of the zones corresponding to a pre-determined volumetric dose of a drug that is correlated to a physical characteristic of a patient. In one specific example, the label is further affixed to the medical dispensing device such that a smallest dose of the drug to be administered corresponds to a first zone that is proximate an opening through which the drug is to be dispensed.

Medication delivery device with sensing system

A medication delivery device with a sensing system to determine at least one of a dose set and a dose delivery. The sensing system is operable to detect relative rotational positions of first and second members of the device which are indicative of at least one of an amount of a dose set and an amount of a dose delivered by operation of the device, and generate outputs correlated to such relative rotational positions. The system includes a wiper coupled to the first member, and a sensing band coupled to the second member for physically contacting the wiper as the second member rotates relative to the first member. A controller electrically communicates with the sensing system to determine, based on the generated outputs of the sensing system, at least one of the amount of the dose set and the amount of the dose delivered by operation of the device.

CRYOSYRINGE DESIGNED FOR STERILE LIQUID NITROGEN FREEZING, QUICK THAWING AND INJECTION OF CELLULAR SLURRIES
20170216531 · 2017-08-03 ·

An embodiment in accordance with the present invention is directed to a device for use as a cryosyringe and a cryo-storage vial. The device includes a first end and a second end and has an outer wall defining a lumen between the first and second ends. Both the first end and the second end include threads configured for attaching a first cap to the first end and a second cap to the second end. The device can also include a syringe plunger adapter, such that the cryo-storage vial is convertible into a cryosyringe to ensure sterility of the contents. Similarly, a luer-lock adapter can be included to further convert the device into a cryosyringe. The device and its components are formed from a cryo-resistant material. The device can therefore withstand liquid nitrogen temperatures necessary to preserve cell viability and be injected without compromising sterility to dispense the cellular therapy.
