Dry powder inhaler with reproducible flow resistance

A dry powder inhalation device is disclosed. In one optional aspect, the device includes a housing, a base plate, a receptacle for a medicament and a mouthpiece. The base plate is engageable with the housing to form a main space with a main air inlet. The mouthpiece includes an inner conduit connected to its outlet and is engageable with the base plate to fluidly connect the inner conduit to the receptacle. The receptacle is fluidly connected to the main space, so that upon inhalation by a user, air can be drawn through the main air inlet into the main space and onward through the receptacle into the inner conduit. The mouthpiece and the base plate form an auxiliary space with an auxiliary air inlet, wherein the auxiliary space is fluidly connected to the main space.

Monitor for a medicament inhaler

Adherence monitors are disclosed, incorporating cap removal sensors together with a determined time period in order to determine that a dose of medicament has been dispensed. In another form, cap removal data is combined with acoustic data to determine that a dose of medicament has been dispensed. Several specific structural arrangements are also disclosed.

Inhaler

The introduction of electronics into a drug delivery device may introduce certain technical challenges, such as durability, electro-mechanical integration, and drug delivery performance. The present disclosure provides solutions for inclusion of an electronics module with an inhaler. For example, heat stakes may be used to secure a printed circuit board (PCB) to an electronics module's housing. Also for example, a slider may be used to transfer vertical movement of an inhaler's yoke to an electronics module's switch. Also for example, certain seals may be used when interfacing the electronics module to other portions of the device's housing to achieve a desired performance.

A spacer device for use with a metered dose inhaler (MDI). The spacer device comprises an aerosol chamber for holding the aerosolized medication sprayed from the MDI. According to one particular design, the aerosol chamber has a forward shell, a rear shell, and an extendable barrel in between. The extendable barrel comprises a flexible plastic sheath that is supported by a coiled wire spring. The spacer device further comprises a mounting bracket to hold the MDI. The mounting bracket holds the MDI such that the spray outlet of the MDI is mated with the aerosol chamber. Also, the assembly is configured such that the aerosol chamber is aligned substantially parallel to the actuator boot of the MDI. During use, the aerosol chamber is folded downward away from the MDI. The aerosol chamber is then extended outward to increase its volume.

Aerosol delivery device including a moveable cartridge and related assembly method

The present disclosure relates to aerosol delivery devices. The aerosol delivery devices may include a housing and a cartridge including an atomizer and a reservoir configured to contain an aerosol precursor composition. The cartridge may be configured to move relative to at least a portion of the housing between a retracted configuration and an extended configuration. Related assembly methods are also provided.
