Universal respiratory detector

A universal respiratory detector for detecting a respiratory gas. The universal respiratory detector may include a plurality of layers with a visual indicator to quickly and reversibly change color to detect a respiratory gas parameter such as carbon dioxide. The color change may be visible from both sides of the detector. In some examples, the respiratory detector may be a biocompatible and conformable sticker for mounting on a person's face or an oxygen delivery device.

Intubation assembly to protect from airborne illnesses

An intubation assembly and shield configured to at least partially reduce the risk of contagion of airborne illnesses. The intubation assembly comprises an intubation apparatus assembly, which may comprise an intubation apparatus such as a laryngoscope, endoscope, bronchoscope, or other fiberoptic device. The intubation apparatus assembly may be operatively disposed on the shield assembly. The intubation apparatus may be placed on a correspondingly dimensioned sleeve. The shield assembly comprises a body with a plurality of side segments and a first transparent component with a shield opening disposed thereon. The shield opening may be used for insertion of the intubation apparatus assembly. The shield assembly may also comprise a second transparent component with at least one longitudinally disposed slot for insertion of an endotracheal tube or other intubation apparatus(es). The shield assembly may be provided with ports to attach a vacuum device to provide negative pressure.

To solve the problem of making available a speech valve for persons who have undergone a laryngectomy or tracheotomy, which speech valve in particular has a long useful life, a speech valve is proposed having a housing with a proximal opening and at least one filter at least partially received in the housing, and with a piston-like valve element, wherein the filter at least partially surrounds the valve element, wherein the valve element is movable on a valve seat, arranged on the proximal opening, in order to produce a closure position and can be returned with a spring action to an open position of the speech valve, and wherein the valve element has a lower end which faces towards the proximal opening and which is assigned to the valve seat in the open position and, with the valve seat, forms a gap through which an air stream can be guided.

The liner may include a liner body constructed from an absorbent material and having an outer edge, an inner edge, and an opening bounded by the inner edge, wherein an extending portion of the liner body is defined which extends outwardly beyond the face-engaging portion and includes at least one aperture for engaging the retaining member. A kit for use with a respiratory mask includes at least one liner and at least one retaining member.

The mask includes a backplate and having a peripheral formation capable of forming a seal around the circumference of the laryngeal inlet. The peripheral formation surrounding a hollow interior space or lumen of the mask and the airway tube opening into the lumen of the mask. The device further includes fixation structure for fixation of the device to a patient when the device is in use. The fixation structure is movable with respect to the airway tube to allow for correct positioning of the device with respect to the anatomy of the patient.

To solve the problem of making available a speech valve for persons who have undergone a laryngectomy or tracheotomy, which speech valve in particular has a long useful life, a speech valve (10) is proposed having a housing (12) with a proximal opening (14) and at least one filter (70) at least partially received in the housing, and with a piston-like valve element (30), wherein the filter at least partially surrounds the valve element, wherein the valve element is movable on a valve seat (32), arranged on the proximal opening, in order to produce a closure position and can be returned with a spring action to an open position of the speech valve, and wherein the valve element has a lower end (38) which faces towards the proximal opening and which is assigned to the valve seat in the open position and, with the valve seat, forms a gap (40) through which an air stream (17a) can be guided.

The plate is manufactured in a thermoplastic material, with a melting/softening temperature allowing for molding according to the local anatomic shape of the person through direct contact between the plate and the skin of the person. A method for adaptation of such tracheostoma holding device is also provided.
