Fan unit with improved surge characteristics

A fan unit that forms part of a gases supply unit used as part of a breathing assistance system for providing heated gases to a user. The fan has an impeller surrounded by an upwardly sloped surface to facilitate improved airflow performance under surge conditions.

Dispensing device for introducing an anesthetic into a breathing gas stream

A dispensing device for dispensing anesthetic in a breathing gas stream includes a flow duct (42) for an anesthetic-containing breathing gas stream, a control unit (5) and a first temperature sensor (54). An anesthetic feed device (45) has an evaporation surface (46) arranged in the flow duct (42). The first temperature sensor (54) detects the temperature of the evaporation surface (46) and sends a first temperature signal (T1) to the control unit (5). A second temperature sensor (53) detects the temperature of the breathing gas stream in the flow duct (42) and sends a second temperature signal (T2) to the control unit (5). The control unit (5) is configured to determine an anesthetic concentration based on the first and second temperature signals (T1, T2).

HUMIDIFICATION DEVICE AND RESPIRATORY ASSISTANCE DEVICE

A humidification device that includes a case containing a humidification space in which water vapor is introduced to a feed gas to be fed to a user. heating unit configured to acquire electric energy using an electromagnetic induction phenomenon to generate heat is disposed in the humidification space. The humidification device further includes a coil configured to transfer energy to the heating unit by the electromagnetic induction phenomenon, an insulating unit configured to spatially separate the heating unit and the coil to prevent electrical contact therebetween and a liquid supply unit configured to supply, to the heating unit, a liquid to be vaporized into the water vapor. This provides a humidification device that can be made smaller in size and lighter in weight, and that can quickly and sufficiently humidify a gas without heating an entire body of water to be stored, as well as a respiratory assistance device.

Pivotable outlet port

An apparatus for providing a pressurised flow of breathable gas to the airways of a patient includes a pivotable outlet port structured and arranged to connect to an air delivery tube configured to pass the pressurised flow of breathable gas to a patient interface. The pivotable outlet port is able to pivot about at least one axis.

INTEGRATED HUMIDIFIER CHAMBER AND LID

A blower unit for use as part of an integrated blower/humidification system is described. The blower unit has an outer casing, which encloses and forms part of the blower unit, the casing including an air inlet vent. The blower unit further includes a humidifier compartment for receiving a humidifier unit with a separate gases inlet and outlet, the compartment having a heater base for heating the contents of the humidifier unit. The compartment also has a blower inlet port which aligns with the humidifier unit inlet in use, the blower providing a gases path through the casing between the inlet vent and the inlet port. The blower unit also includes a fan for providing a pressurised gases stream along the gases path, and a power supply unit for powering the fan. The gases path is routed over the power supply unit in order to provide a cooling air flow.

SYSTEMS AND METHODS FOR DETECTING MOUTH LEAK

The present disclosure relates to a method for determining a mouth leak status associated with a user of a respiratory device is disclosed. Airflow data associated with the user of the respiratory device is received. The respiratory device is configured to supply pressurized air to an airway of the user during a therapy session. The airflow data includes pressure data. The airflow data associated with the user is analyzed. Based at least in part on the analysis, the mouth leak status associated with the user is determined. The mouth leak status is indicative of whether or not air is leaking from a mouth of the user.

Sensing and control arrangements for respiratory device

Various characteristics of a gas flow can be sensed at the end of a respiratory conduit near the patient interface using a sensing module. The sensing module can be removable from the patient end of the respiratory conduit for ease of use and ease of cleaning. The sensor module can transmit sensor data over the same wires used to heat the respiratory conduit.

A RESPIRATORY CONDUIT

A respiratory conduit has a hollow tube having an inlet, an outlet, a longitudinal axis, and defining a fluid flow path. Along at least a length of the tube, an outer surface of the tube has alternate ridges and grooves. The respiratory conduit also has a sheath surrounding at least a portion of the length of the tube, the sheath has alternate attachment portions and bridging portions. The attachment portions contact the ridges of the tube. The bridging portions extend across the grooves of the tube. Each bridging portion has a span length being the distance in the longitudinal direction between adjacent attachment portions, and a depth being the maximum distance in a radial direction between a point on the bridging portion and a point on one of the adjoining attachment portions. The depth of the bridging portion is greater than zero.
