Urinary catheter assembly with attachable handle

A urinary catheter assembly comprises: a urinary catheter, a tubular case and a sleeve fixedly arranged over at least a part of a non-insertable section of the urinary catheter. The sleeve includes two oppositely arranged openings and a body extending between the opening. In a first position, a storage position, the tubular case is arranged to enclose the insertable section of the urinary catheter and is removably connected to the sleeve and/or to the non-insertable section of the urinary catheter. The body portion of the sleeve is provided with a first engagement member, and the tubular case is provided with a second engagement member, thereby enabling the tubular case, when removed from the non-insertable part of the urinary catheter, to be releasably connected to the sleeve in a second disposition, the second disposition being different from the first disposition. A method for producing a urinary catheter assembly is also disclosed.

Hydrophilic medical products and hydration mediums for hydrating the same

Hydration mediums, assemblies containing hydration mediums and methods of making the same are disclosed. The hydration mediums are intended for hydrating or wetting a medical device such as a catheter and comprise a hydration foam. Furthermore, methods and products involving hydrophilic substances are disclosed e.g. involving mucilage, deep eutectic liquids, antifreeze substances or cryoprotectants, oil or a hydration medium together with water, surfactant, polyol and stabilizer.

Urinary catheter assembly having a sleeve attached between a connector and a handle

A urinary catheter assembly includes an intermittent urinary catheter disposed in a cavity formed by a handle, and a connector, and a sleeve attached between the handle and the connector. The connector has a drain. The drain is formed by an outer wall of the connector separated from an inner wall of the connector by a channel.

Optical connection systems including electrical-and-optical connection systems and methods thereof are disclosed. An electrical-and-optical connection system can include an extension tube having a plug and a relay module having a receptacle. The plug can be formed of a metal piece around electrical wires, which, in turn, are around optical-fiber cores that extend along a length of the extension tube. The plug can be configured to pierce through at least a sterile barrier. The relay module can include electrical wires and optical-fiber cores within a housing of the relay module, as well as a receptacle disposed in the housing. The receptacle can be configured to simultaneously accept insertion of the plug therein and establish both electrical and optical connections between the plug and the receptacle from a sterile field to a non-sterile field set up by the sterile barrier. Shape-sensing systems including the optical connection systems are also disclosed.

External Catheter with Finger Pocket for Self-Placement

A self-placeable external catheter is disclosed that includes a catheter body having at least a top side and a bottom, a wicking area disposed on the top side, a finger covering extending from the bottom side of the catheter body creating a cavity configured to receive a user finger, and an aperture formed in the bottom side of the catheter, wherein the wicking area receives urine such that the urine passes through the wicking area, through the catheter body and through the aperture. The catheter tubing may be inserted into the aperture such that the urine passes through the wicking area, through the catheter body and through the aperture into the catheter tubing. An opening of the cavity may face a proximal side of the catheter body and the wicking area may include gauze.

A Urinary Catheterisation Aid

An intermittent urinary catheterisation aid 2 and an assembly is provided. The aid allows a user to manipulate an intermittent urinary catheter 3 in one direction and insert it into the urethra in another direction.

Devices and methods for fluid transfer through a placed peripheral intravenous catheter

An apparatus includes a catheter, an introducer, and an actuator. A distal end portion of the introducer is configured to be coupled to a peripheral intravenous line. The introducer defines an inner volume having a first portion that defines an axis parallel to and offset from an axis defined by a second portion. A first portion of the actuator is movably disposed in the first portion of the inner volume. A second portion of the actuator is movably disposed in the second portion of the inner volume and coupled to the catheter movably disposed in the second portion of the inner volume. The actuator moves the catheter between a first position, in which the catheter is disposed within the introducer, and a second position, in which at least a portion of the catheter is disposed within the peripheral intravenous line.

SYSTEMS AND METHODS FOR A HYDROPHILIC CATHETER INTRODUCTION SYSTEM

Various embodiments of a hydrophilic catheter introduction system for improved insertion of a shunt catheter are disclosed herein. The catheter introduction system includes an introducer sheath defining an inner surface that includes a hydrophilic coating to aid in passage of a catheter through the introducer sheath. Evaluation of the catheter introduction system with respect to other catheter introduction systems resulted in a significant decrease in average catheter threading time.
