Intermittent-Catheter Assembly and Methods Thereof
20230293848 · 2023-09-21 ·

Disclosed herein are intermittent-catheter assemblies and methods thereof. An intermittent-catheter assembly includes, in some embodiments, a collapsible catheter housing and an intermittent catheter. The catheter housing can include an inner sleeve and an outer sleeve slidably mounted over the inner sleeve. Alternatively, the catheter housing can include an outer sleeve and a collapsible outer cover coupled to the outer sleeve. The intermittent catheter includes a funnel and a catheter tube coupled to the funnel. The intermittent-catheter assembly has a storage state and an opened state. In the storage state, the intermittent catheter is sealed within the catheter housing. In the opened state, the catheter housing is collapsed exposing the funnel of the intermittent catheter for removal of the intermittent catheter from the catheter housing. Methods of the intermittent-catheter assemblies include a method of using an intermittent-catheter assembly.

Gripper sleeve for urinary catheter
11771868 · 2023-10-03 · ·

An enhanced tubular sleeve for handling a urinary catheter including a number of features that render usage of urinary catheters much easier and reduce discomfort. The sleeve may be formed of bonded sheets of flexible material having rounded distal ends. Or, the sheets may only be bonded in a proximal portion with their distal portions left unattached. In still another version the distal end of one sheet terminates shorter than the distal end of the other sheet.

ISOLATING DRAINAGE CATHETER
20230277819 · 2023-09-07 · ·

Aspects of this disclosure relate to catheter assemblies, that include an inner tube component, an outer tube component that fits over the inner tube component, and a disposable layer of film that isolates the otherwise fluid-exposed portions of the catheter from the fluid it drains. This disposable film can be removed at regular intervals and obviates the need for catheter exchanges as the isolating disposable film, rather than the catheter itself, is removed. The principal characteristic of the disposable film is that it is relatively impermeable to fluid, for example, bodily fluids.

Optical connection systems and methods thereof

Optical connection systems including electrical-and-optical connection systems and methods thereof are disclosed. An electrical-and-optical connection system can include an extension tube having a plug and a relay module having a receptacle. The plug can be formed of a metal piece around electrical wires, which, in turn, are around optical-fiber cores that extend along a length of the extension tube. The plug can be configured to pierce through at least a sterile barrier. The relay module can include electrical wires and optical-fiber cores within a housing of the relay module, as well as a receptacle disposed in the housing. The receptacle can be configured to simultaneously accept insertion of the plug therein and establish both electrical and optical connections between the plug and the receptacle from a sterile field to a non-sterile field set up by the sterile barrier. Shape-sensing systems including the optical connection systems are also disclosed.

Urinary catheter protective tips having a fluid reservoir

A catheter assembly includes a catheter at least partially positioned within a sleeve. The catheter has a coating, which produces a low-friction surface on the catheter when treated with an activating fluid. A protective tip is connected to the sleeve and has proximal and distal internal seals, with the proximal seal at the proximal end of the tip or between proximal and distal ends of the protective tip. A cap of the assembly has a projection, which is removably received within the protective tip for sealing engagement with the proximal and distal seals to define a fluid reservoir within the protective tip. An activating fluid is contained within the fluid reservoir. The projection may be partially hollow to receive a portion of the catheter. The sleeve may be relatively narrow or at least have a narrowed portion for better distribution of activating fluid to the surface of the catheter.

METHOD OF MAKING A READY-TO-USE CATHETER ASSEMBLY AND A READY-TO-USE CATHETER ASSEMBLY

A method of making a ready-to-use catheter assembly is provided, which can be immediately used by a patient. The ready-to-use catheter assembly ensures that the catheter does not suffer from a loss of quality during its shelf life and a wetting medium are provided. The method comprises: placing a catheter with an inactivated hydrophilic outer surface at least along its insertable length and a wetting medium in a catheter package; treating the catheter package with the catheter and the wetting medium with electro-magnetic and/or particle radiation while at least initially the hydrophilic outer surface at least along the insertable length of the catheter remains inactivated; and activating the hydrophilic outer surface at least along the insertable length of the catheter with the wetting medium during and/or after the radiation treatment and wherein the wetting medium decreases in viscosity when submitted to electro-magnetic and/or particle radiation.

Gel distributor in urinary catheter package
11420016 · 2022-08-23 · ·

A package or container for a catheter having a catheter tube with a proximal end provided with a catheter outlet and a distal opening at a distal end thereof. A gel receptacle is provided with a cavity for holding an amount of a lubricating agent, and the catheter tube extends therethrough. The gel receptacle is configured such that as the catheter is withdrawn from a stored position therein, a leading tip of the catheter is immersed in the lubricating agent, thus automatically coating the leading tip. The gel receptacle may be held within a rigid body or may be a standalone item packaged in a sterile bag solely with the catheter. A side wall of the gel receptacle is deformable so that as the catheter is withdrawn proximally the side wall is collapsed inward to displace the lubricating agent gel and coat an exterior surface of the catheter tube.

SLEEVED HYDROPHILIC MEDICAL PRODUCTS

A sleeved hydrophilic catheter (10) with a sleeve (22) containing a hydration liquid. It comprises a catheter tube having a proximal end portion (14) and a distal end portion (16), the catheter tube having a side wall (19) defining a lumen. A drainage opening (17) is located in the distal end portion (16) of the catheter tube and through the side wall (19) of the catheter tube, the drainage opening (17) being in communication with a cavity of the sleeve (22) and the lumen of the catheter tube. A deflection member is associated with the drainage opening (17).
