Devices, systems and methods for transmitting motion to the distal tip of an endoscopic accessory tool

The present disclosure relates generally to the field of medical devices and establishing access to body passageways. In particular, the present disclosure relates to devices, systems and methods to facilitate entry of an endoscopic accessory tool into and/or through patient-specific anatomies. For example, the devices, systems and methods of the present disclosure may transmit mechanical motion to the distal end of an endoscopic accessory tool to facilitate atraumatic access to tortuous or otherwise restricted anatomies.

Biomedical device for carrying out an arterial catheterization comprising a catheter assembly, a Seldinger assembly, an outer sheath assembly configured to contain thereinside both said catheter assembly and said Seldinger assembly when the device is assembled before its use, at least a cannula-needle integral to the Seldinger assembly, valve means to avoid blood backflow and safety means for needle clamping, protection means for the needle, said catheter assembly comprising a thin tube, a nearly cylindrically shaped end provided with a couple of side wings, an inner cavity obtained in said end, said device being characterized in that said valve means and said safety means are located inside said outer sheath assembly in the inner cavity obtained in said cylindrical seat of the catheter assembly.

Coupling assembly for variable diameter surgical instrument

An apparatus may be used with an elongate member that includes an engagement member, a hollow shaft, a compression member, a compression element, and a resilient gripping member. The hollow shaft extends from the engagement member along a longitudinal axis. The compression member is slidably disposed over the hollow shaft. The hollow shaft is disposed over the resilient gripping member and supports the compression element. The compression member has a conical inner surface including a detent feature. The conical inner surface is configured to urge the compression element radially inwards as the collar advances from the unlocked position toward the locked position where the detent feature retains the compression element. The compression element deforms the resilient gripping member radially inwards to grip the elongate member and prevents translation of the elongate member. When unlocked, the resilient gripping member moves radially away from the elongate member allowing translation.

An access guidewire has a distal portion including a distal portion length and a distal portion diameter. The guidewire also includes an intermediate portion, proximal to the distal portion, having an intermediate portion length and an intermediate portion diameter. A proximal portion is proximal of the intermediate portion and includes a proximal portion length and a proximal portion diameter. The intermediate portion diameter is greater than the the distal portion diameter and the proximal portion diameter.

Catheter insertion system and method

A catheter inserter including an actuator assembly to move a catheter assembly outside a housing by engaging the catheter assembly multiple times, in an example. The inserter includes a needle assembly in a housing that has a first position with a needle extending from the housing and a second position with the needle retracted into the housing. A catheter assembly is removably positioned in the housing and includes a catheter and a hub connected to the catheter. An actuator assembly is further mounted to the housing and operates to selectively engage a guidewire assembly to move the guidewire past the needle and to selectively engage the catheter assembly to move the catheter and the hub outside the housing.

Guidewire Locking System for Catheter Placement

A guidewire locking mechanism for a rapidly insertable central catheter (RICC) placement system includes a housing defining a needle lumen and guidewire lumen communicating therewith and extending at an angle therefrom. The needle extends through the needle lumen and a guidewire aperture, disposed in a side wall thereof, and aligns with the guidewire lumen. The guidewire extends through the guidewire lumen, through the guidewire aperture, and into a needle lumen. Once accessed, the guidewire can stabilize the insertion site to the vasculature. A locking mechanism can lock a position of the guidewire and the housing can detach from the needle hub, allowing the needle to be withdrawn therefrom. The guidewire can slide through a needle slot to disengage the needle. In the unlocked position, the guidewire can pass through one of a housing slot or a lock slot to disengage the system.

Apparatus, system, and method for extending a guidewire

In various examples, an apparatus facilitates attachment of an extension wire to a guidewire. The apparatus includes a body portion including a lumen sized to accommodate a distal end of the extension wire therein. A cutout is defined within a portion of a sidewall of the body portion, the cutout allowing access to the lumen. A funnel portion is disposed within a distal end of the body portion and includes an opening in the distal end of the body portion. The funnel portion includes a tapered wall converging from the opening to the lumen, wherein, with the distal end of the extension wire disposed within the lumen, the funnel portion facilitates alignment and attachment of a proximal end of the guidewire with the distal end of the extension wire. In other examples, a system or a method facilitates attachment of an extension wire to a guidewire.

Tracking system and marker device to be tracked by the tracking system

A tracking system for tracking a marker device for being attached to a medical device is provided, whereby the marker device includes a sensing unit comprising a magnetic object which may be excited by an external magnetic or electromagnetic excitation field into a mechanical oscillation of the magnetic object, and the tracking system comprises a field generator for generating a predetermined magnetic or electromagnetic excitation field for inducing mechanical oscillations of the magnetic object, a transducer for transducing a magnetic or electromagnetic field generated by the induced mechanical oscillations of the magnetic object into one or more electrical response signals, and a position determination unit for determining the position of the marker device on the basis of the one or more electrical response signals.

An apparatus includes a hemostasis valve; a base having a clamp releasably coupling a catheter to the base; a base drive member moving the base relative to the hemostasis valve along a first path; and a mechanism maintaining the position of an elongated medical device relative to the hemostasis valve while the catheter is being moved along the first path.

Dilator with slit and slidable sleeve

The invention includes a dilator comprising a tube and an elastic, unitary sleeve that is slidable both longitudinally and transversely to the cylindrical barrel when disposed on the tube.
