Systems for providing access across a site of obstruction and methods for manufacturing and using such systems. Such systems may include a sleeve having an inflation lumen; a bushing disposed in a distal section of the sleeve; and an everting member coupled to the sleeve with the bushing, the everting member being movable from an inverted position inside the sleeve to an everted position outside the sleeve in response to an increase in pressure in the inflation lumen.

OCCLUSIVE IMPLANTS WITH FIBER-BASED RELEASE STRUCTURES

Occlusive implants are provided with various embodiments of active and/or passive release structures. Systems for delivering the occlusive implants as well as methods for making and delivering the implants are also provided.

Intravascular Treatment Site Access

The embodiments presented herein relate to concepts designed to eliminate the gap between a catheter and guide wire that can otherwise contribute to a catheter getting stuck within the vasculature.

Vascular locator device and method for locating a vessel

A vessel locator apparatus (30) having a locator housing, and an elongated cavity defined in the locator housing, is described. The vessel locator apparatus include a superelastic wire (46) positioned at least partially in the elongated cavity, the superelastic having a proximal end and a distal end. The superelastic wire may have an elongated portion extending in a substantially longitudinal direction and a distal locator portion having an original shape configuration. The original shape configuration of distal locator portion may include a first curved segment, a second curved segment, an intermediate segment extending between the first curved segment and the second curved segment, and an end segment extending between the second curved segment and the distal end of the superelastic wire. A method of locating a vessel, such as a blood vessel, using a vessel locator apparatus is also described.

Methods for the diagnosis and treatment of nonstenotic carotid plaques and symptomatic nonstenotic carotid disease (SyNC) are described. In particular, methods of evaluating the presence of unstable plaque/thrombus and methods of treatment that include deploying plaque stabilizers (PSs) into the cerebral vasculature are described. The invention further describes plaque stabilizers, uses of plaque stabilizers and plaque stabilizer kits.

A catheter insertion device and method for insertion. The catheter insertion device can include a housing, a needle attached to a needle carrier, a catheter including a catheter shaft attached to a catheter hub, and a guidewire. The guidewire can include a coil tip positioned in a lumen of the needle. The method for insertion can include inserting a distal end of the needle and the catheter shaft into a blood vessel of a patient, advancing the coil tip out of the needle lumen and into the blood vessel, advancing the catheter over the guidewire, and withdrawing the guidewire and the needle from the catheter. The coil tip can include a straightened configuration and a coiled configuration. The coil tip can transition from the straightened configuration in the needle lumen to the coiled configuration in the blood vessel.

CATHETER DEVICE

Catheter devices and uses thereof are provided that include inner and outer tubular members, each having proximal and distal ends, where the distal end of the outer tubular member is shaped, including at least one curve, such as a Judkins right curve or an Amplatzer left curve. At least a portion of the inner tubular member is coaxially positioned within the outer tubular member. The control mechanism has a housing with a means to seal an inner luminal space thereof, where the control mechanism is coupled to the proximal ends of the outer tubular member and the inner tubular member. The control mechanism is operable to extend and retract the distal end of the inner tubular member from the shaped distal end of the outer tubular member.

A guidewire retraction device having a first support structure located opposite a second support structure. The first support structure has a primary bore traversing the length of the first support structure. The first support structure has a first opening bordering a first ramp. The first ramp is connected to the primary bore. A second support structure has a secondary bore traversing the length of the second support structure. The second support structure has a second opening bordering a second ramp. The second ramp is connected to the secondary bore. The first ramp of the first support structure and the second ramp of the second support structure are configured to receive a guidewire. A rotation element is rotated in a first direction to orient the guidewire in a retracted orientation. The rotation element is rotated in a second direction to orient the guidewire in an advanced orientation.

A guide wire includes: a first core shaft made of a superelastic material, and a second core shaft made of a material more plastically deformable than the first core shaft and is joined to a distal end portion of the first core shaft. On the distal end portion to which the second core shaft is joined in the first core shaft, breaking elongation attributed to a tensile load is shorter compared to portions on a proximal end side with respect to the distal end portion.
