Atraumatic coupling and catheter employing the same
A catheter includes a proximal shaft and a distal shaft having differing diameters; often, the distal shaft will have a smaller diameter than the proximal shaft. A coupling joins the distal shaft to the proximal shaft. For example, a proximal portion of the distal shaft can be inserted into the coupling through its distal end, while the proximal portion of the coupling can be inserted into the proximal shaft through its distal end. To provide an atraumatic transition from the distal shaft to the proximal shaft, coupling can taper towards its distal end, for example by using a dome- or frustoconical-shape for the distal portion of the coupling. The exterior of the coupling can be ribbed to facilitate bonding to the proximal shaft. The distal shaft can be formed into at least a partial loop having a fixed or variable radius of curvature.
CATHETER MODIFICATION DEVICE
In some examples, a catheter flaring device includes a housing and a pin. The housing includes an interior surface defining a cavity configured to receive at least a portion of a catheter having an entry port and engage an exterior surface of the catheter proximate the entry port. The pin is configured to be advanced into the entry port of the catheter to increase a cross-sectional dimension of the entry port. Flaring the entry port may help reduce catching of a medical device on the entry port of the catheter during a medical procedure.
CUSTOM LENGTH STYLET
A custom length stylet assembly for meeting medical device length tolerances. The custom length stylet assembly including a stylet wire having a length extending between a distal end and a proximal end, stylet handle defining a longitudinally oriented throughbore sized to retain a proximal portion of the stylet wire, the stylet handle further defining a proximately positioned track and tab, the track configured to retain a bent proximal end portion of the stylet wire, the length of the stylet wire selected during assembly of the stylet assembly to conform to the corresponding length of a body implantable lead within a predefined tolerance, the tab of the stylet handle melted into the track, thereby securely fastening stylet wire to the stylet handle to inhibit rotation or dislodgement.
MULTI-LUMEN EXTENSION SYSTEM
A multi-lumen extension system may include a first lumen forming a fluidic channel within the multi-lumen extension system; a second lumen forming a non-fluidic channel within the multi-lumen extension system; a patency instrument housed within the second lumen; a seal between the first lumen and the second lumen to prevent fluid from entering the second lumen from the first lumen; and a grip formed along the second lumen and operatively coupled to the patency instrument housed within the second lumen to selectively advance the patency instrument along the second lumen.
Devices and methods for guidewire extension in spinal surgery
A guidewire system for spine surgeries includes a first guidewire portion having an elongate first guidewire body with a distal end and a proximal end. A threaded male fastener at the distal end of the first guidewire body is configured to fasten to a vertebra of a spine of a subject and a threaded female coupler at the proximal end of the first guidewire body defines a threaded opening. The guidewire system includes a second guidewire portion having an elongate second guidewire body with a distal end and a proximal end. A threaded male coupler at the distal end of the second guidewire body is configured to thread into the threaded female coupler of the first guidewire portion to fasten the second guidewire portion to the first guidewire portion to form an elongate guidewire.
IMPLANTABLE MEDICAL DEVICE DETACHMENT SYSTEM WITH SPLIT TUBE AND CYLINDRICAL COUPLING
A method of constructing a detachment system for delivering an implantable medical device to a target location of a body vessel is presented. The method includes forming a compressible portion on a distal tube, engaging an implantable medical device with an engagement system, extending the engagement system through the distal tube such that the implantable medical device is distal of a distal end of the distal tube, applying a force to the engagement system to compress the compressible portion to a compressed state, fixing the engagement system to the distal tube to maintain the compressed state of the compressible portion, and joining a proximal end of the distal tube to a distal end of a proximal tube. The engagement system can include a loop wire that is fixed to the distal tube and engages the medical device.
Apparatus and method for sensor deployment and fixation
A delivery system for an intracorporeal device includes a sheath defining one or more lumens shaped to receive a delivery catheter or shaft and a guidewire. The system may include a delivery shaft having a distal coupling feature adapted to releasably couple with a proximal coupling feature of the intracorporeal device. The delivery system may further include a hub through which the delivery shaft and guidewire are passed. The delivery shaft may be coupled to a feature, such as a knob, that enables manipulation of the delivery shaft to decouple the distal fixation feature from the proximal fixation feature of the intracorporeal device in order to deploy the intracorporeal device within a patient.
Suture delivery device
A device is configured for closing an aperture in a wall of a blood vessel. An embodiment of the device includes a body and at least one suture element held within the body. A suture capture rod is positioned within the body and is operatively associated with the suture element and arranged to pass the suture element through a vessel wall such that opposed portions of the suture element extend from the vessel wall. A removable guidewire segment is removably attached to a distal end of the body.
MEDICAL ASSISTANCE DEVICE
A medical assistance device is disclosed, which is capable of adjusting a use length of a medical device according to a procedure in a target biological lumen. The medical assistance device includes a support, a length adjustment unit which is rotatably provided about a support shaft with respect to the support and performs at least one of winding and unwinding of the medical device to adjust a use length of the medical device, an elongated body which is attached to the length adjustment unit and is connected to the medical device, and of which at least one of winding and unwinding is performed with respect to the length adjustment unit, and a connection section which is provided on an end portion of the elongated body and connects the end portion of the elongated body and an end portion of the medical device to each other.
Implantable medical device detachment system with split tube and cylindrical coupling
A detachment system for delivering an implantable medical device to a target location of a body vessel has a generally hollow distal tube. The distal tube includes a proximal end, a distal end, and a compressible portion of the tube itself, between the proximal and distal ends which is axially movable from a compressed to an elongated condition. A generally hollow proximal tube has a proximal end and a distal end. A coupling joins the proximal and distal tubes. An engagement system engages and deploys the implantable medical device engaged at the distal end of the distal tube. The engagement system moves the compressible portion to the compressed condition when engaging the implantable medical device, and deploys the implantable medical device and releases the compressible portion to the elongated condition.
