A catheter or shaft, such as a distal access support or aspiration catheter, is provided that is configured to be advanced at least partially within a patient. The catheter or shaft may include a flexible and hollow shaft including a proximal end and a distal end. The flexible and hollow shaft may include a slotted portion with a plurality of slotted openings, the slotted portion including a first segment with a first pattern of slotted openings and a second segment extending proximally relative the first segment with a second pattern of slotted openings different from the first pattern.

Provided herein are methods of treatment, compositions, systems and kits using polymer particles as restraints of neutrophil function. Such methods include, but are not limited to, methods of preventing, treating, and/or ameliorating inflammatory diseases, infections, autoimmune diseases, malignant diseases, and other diseases or conditions in which neutrophils may be implicated. In some embodiments, polymer particles are useful for diagnosing neutrophil related diseases or conditions.
Aspiration catheter systems and methods of use
A method of performing a medical procedure in a cerebral vessel including advancing a guide sheath into an internal carotid artery; advancing a catheter within a lumen of the guide sheath until a distal end of the catheter is adjacent to an embolus in a cerebral vessel; activating a vacuum source to create a vacuum in a lumen of the catheter; and cyclically controlling the vacuum applied with a valve. The vacuum is cyclically controlled by opening the valve for a first time period, closing the valve for a second time period longer than the first time period, opening the valve for a third time period shorter than the first time period, then closing the valve for a fourth time period greater than the first time period, and repeating for at least 40 cycles.

A sphincterotome device can be used to achieve appropriate positioning within the biliary duct during cannulation. Retrieval of material from vessel lumens can be improved by electrically enhancing attachment of the material to the thrombectomy system. The system can include a catheter having a distal portion configured to be positioned adjacent to a thrombus in a blood vessel, an electrode disposed at the distal portion of the catheter, and an interventional element configured to be delivered through a lumen of the catheter. The electrode and the interventional element are each configured to be electrically coupled to an extracorporeal power supply.
