20230216430 · 2023-07-06 · ·

A device includes a battery module, and an inverter configured to convert a DC voltage output from the battery module into an AC voltage. The battery module includes battery cells connected in series, and a state detection unit configured to detect a state of each battery cell of the battery cells. An output voltage of the battery cells is input to the inverter without being stepped up. At least some battery cells of the battery cells are reused battery cells. The electrical storage device includes a switching unit configured to connect/disconnect an electrical connection between the battery cells and the inverter. The switching unit is controlled into a disconnected state when a voltage of the battery cells or the DC voltage on an input side of the inverter exceeds a threshold.

Dual zone discharge of rechargeable batteries

The technology described in this document can be embodied in a method of using a silver-zinc rechargeable battery to power a device. The method includes drawing, in a first mode of operation of a power management circuit, a first current from the battery to power the device. The first current is selected such that a target percentage of a capacity of the battery is discharged in a predetermined time of use of the device. The method also includes switching to a second mode of operation after the target percentage of the capacity of the battery is discharged. In the second mode of operation, a second current is drawn from the battery, wherein the second current is less than the first current. The method further includes powering the device using the second current.

Systems and methods for controlling power flow to and from an energy storage system are provided. One implementation relates to an energy storage system comprising an energy storage device, an inverter configured to control a flow of power out of the energy storage device, a rectifier configured to control the flow of power into the energy storage device and one or more controllers. The one or more controllers may be configured to determine a schedule of a plurality of time periods based on historical price data. Each of the plurality of time periods may be associated with one of a state of charging, discharging, or idle. The one or more controllers may be configured to control the inverter and the rectifier based on the determined schedule.

Charging management apparatus

An on-board charging management apparatus includes a vehicle-side earth line connected with an external-side earth line of an external power unit; a vehicle-side signal line connected with an external-side signal line of the external power unit; and a detection signal line configured to connect the vehicle-side signal line and the vehicle-side earth line. Presence or absence of a disconnection of the external-side earth line and the vehicle-side earth line is determined based on an electric current value or a voltage value of the detection signal line, when the external power unit is in a connected state. As a consequence, the on-board charging management apparatus can detect a disconnection of the earth line at the time of charging an on-board electric storage device.
