The present disclosure provides a battery pack including: a plurality of battery cells; a protective circuit module arranged on a side of the plurality of battery cells and including at least one through-hole; an electrode tab inserted into the at least one through-hole and electrically connecting the plurality of battery cells to the protective circuit module; a temperature sensing unit arranged on the protective circuit module; and a heat transfer member connected to a portion of the electrode tab inserted into the at least one through-hole and to the temperature sensing unit and transferring heat from the electrode tab to the temperature sensing unit.

A secondary battery protection apparatus includes a temperature sensitive element having a characteristic value that varies in accordance with a change in temperature of a secondary battery. The secondary battery protection apparatus includes a switching circuit provided in a charge-and-discharge path between a secondary battery and an external device. The secondary battery protection apparatus includes a secondary battery protection circuit configured to control charge and discharge using the switching circuit to protect the secondary battery from temperature. The secondary battery protection circuit includes a comparison circuit configured to compare a voltage against a threshold voltage, the voltage corresponding to the change in the temperature of the secondary battery. The secondary battery protection circuit includes a conversion circuit that is controlled such that a first input of the comparison circuit is electrically coupled to a first terminal of the secondary battery protection circuit.

The battery module circuit includes one or more thermistors positioned at least partially overlapping with the one or more terminal bus bars.

This application is directed to an electronic device powered by one or more rechargeable battery cells. The electronic device includes a first negative temperature coefficient (NTC) thermistor proximate to the battery cells, and an open capacitor coupled in parallel with the NTC thermistor. The open capacitor has an open area and two electrodes that are at least partially exposed via the open area and electrically isolated. The electronic device further includes a control circuit coupled to the NTC thermistor and the open capacitor. The control circuit is configured to detect a voltage drop across the NTC thermistor and the open capacitor if conductive liquid enters the open area of the capacitor and electrically connects the two electrodes that are at least partially exposed via the open area.

A method for controlling a rechargeable battery on a machine tool contains the steps of: setting the control electronics of the rechargeable battery to a deactivation mode, with the result that no current flows from the rechargeable battery into the control electronics and to the machine tool; transmitting at least one signal from the machine tool to the rechargeable battery via the first and second communication lines; activating the wake-up circuit for activating control electronics by detecting a voltage value from the first or second communication line, wherein the voltage value corresponds to either the dominant or the recessive state of the first or second communication line; setting the control electronics of the rechargeable battery to an activation mode via the wake-up circuit; and enabling current to be drawn from the rechargeable battery by the machine tool. A system containing a rechargeable battery and a machine tool, a rechargeable battery and a machine tool for carrying out the method are also provided.
