Dual-band antenna for personal area network (PAN) and wireless local area net work (WLAN) radios

Antenna structures and methods of operating the same of a dual-band inverted-F antenna of an electronic device are described. One device includes a single RF feed line coupled to a dual-band inverted-F antenna. The dual-band inverted-F antenna includes a RF feed coupled to the single RF feed line; a ground element; a first arm; a second arm; and a third arm coupled to the ground element. The RF feed is located at a point that is closer to the third arm than a first opening between a distal end of the first arm and the ground element. The second arm is located on an opposite side of the first arm than the ground element, forming a second opening between the second arm and the ground element and a third opening between the second arm and the first arm.

A dual band end fed dipole provides at least two distinct operating frequencies, e.g. 2.45 GHz and 5.5 GHz. Properties of the antenna include low cost to manufacture, e.g. ease of automation; minimal manual labor to manufacture, e.g. reliability; dual band operation; broad bandwidth; good feed line isolation; omnidirectional beam pattern; minimal vertical beam squint; small diameter; and high efficiency. Embodiments of the invention provide a dual band end fed dipole with a low band trap on the feed side that requires minimal manual labor to manufacture because the antenna is formed from a single flat sheet of metal and soldering is replaced with crimping. Minimal dielectric loading is also achieved.

Patch antenna assembly with grounded posts

An antenna assembly can be configured for RF communications. The antenna assembly can include a ground plane disposed on a substrate. The antenna assembly can include a patch antenna structure spaced apart from the ground plane. The antenna assembly can include one or more grounded posts coupled to and extending from the substrate. The one or more grounded posts can be arranged along at least a portion of a periphery of the patch antenna structure. The patch antenna structure can emit a radiation pattern based at least in part on a transmit signal. The radiation pattern can induce a resultant field in the one or more grounded posts to adjust a characteristic of the radiation pattern.

Camouflaged single branch dual band antenna for use with power meter

A dual band antenna is configured for use with a power meter having a power meter housing. The dual band antenna includes a flexible polymeric substrate and an adhesive layer that is secured relative to the flexible polymeric substrate. A first conductive element is disposed relative to the flexible polymeric substrate and has a first electrical length. A second conductive element is disposed relative to the flexible polymeric substrate and has a second electrical length. The first electrical length and the second electrical length are substantially the same.

SECTOR DUAL-RESONANT DIPOLE ANTENNA

The present invention discloses a sector dual-resonant dipole antenna. Radiation elements of the antenna are two identical sector patches. Two identical rectangular notches can be symmetrically arranged or two identical tuning stubs can be symmetrically loaded on the sector patches at positions deviating from the central axis of the two sector patches. Exciting points are symmetrically arranged on sides of the sector patches close to a central axis. The present invention realizes a wide beamwidth radiation characteristic through a two-dimensional sectorial resonator, and then the notches are arranged or the tuning stubs are loaded at appropriate positions of two arms of the sectorial resonator, and thereby a dual-resonant characteristic can be realized within a working band.
