DUAL-POLARIZATION RIPPLED REFLECTOR ANTENNA
An antenna may include a reflector and a multi-band feed assembly. A support member may be coupled to the multi-band feed assembly to orient the multi-band feed assembly for direct illumination of the reflector. The multi-band feed assembly may include first and second feeds, each having a respective septum polarizer coupled between a respective common waveguide and a respective pair of waveguides. A housing of the support member may contain the respective septum polarizers and the respective pairs of waveguides.
Enhanced directivity feed and feed array
Disclosed is a shaped horn in conjunction with a dielectric tube for enhanced aperture directivity that can achieve a near optimum efficiency. The shaped horn provides additional mode control to provide an improved off-axis cross-polarization response. The horn shape can be individually optimized for isolated horns or for horns in a feed array. The feed array environment can produce results that lead to a different optimized shape than the isolated horn. Lower off axis cross-polarization can result in improved efficiency and susceptibility to interference.
Managed access system including surface wave antenna and related methods
A managed access system is for mobile wireless devices (MWDs) in a facility geographically within a wireless communications network of a communications carrier. The system may include at least one RF antenna arranged at the facility and including an RF launch structure, and an elongate electrical conductor having a proximal end extending through the RF launch structure and a distal end spaced apart from the RF launch structure to define an elongate RF coverage pattern. The system may further include radio equipment coupled to the at least one RF antenna, and a management access controller cooperating with the radio equipment to communicate with a given MWD in the elongate RF coverage pattern within the facility, block outside communications via the wireless communications network when the given MWD is an unauthorized MWD, and provide outside communications via the wireless communications network when the given MWD is an authorized MWD.
Broadband quad-ridge horn antennas
Broadband antennas are described that include a quad-ridge horn inside which two different lenses are inserted creating a broadband horn-lens combination. One of these lenses is a cross-polyrod lens, formed from a pair of polyrods disposed in a crossed arrangement, each polyrod shaped in a predetermined manner. The other one of these lenses is a prolate spheroidal lens. The broadband antennas can produce, at the output thereof, Gaussian-like beams in both principal polarizations from VHF to 20 GHz. As such, the broadband antennas can be used to perform material measurements in a compact admittance tunnel. Simulation results show that directivity of quad-ridge horns can be improved using the combination of lenses of the broadband antennas. Therefore, the broadband antennas can also be of interest for far-field radiation applications.
Cup antenna radio
A cup antenna radio includes a tubular dielectric medium having a hollow portion. The cup radio antenna also includes electronics located in the hollow portion, the electronics being configured for satellite communication. The cup radio antenna also includes a spiral element disposed on top of the tubular dielectric medium, and a helical element disposed on an outside sidewall of the tubular dielectric medium. The helical element includes a first member coupled to a first arm of the spiral element and a second member coupled to a second arm of the spiral element.
Cross Slot Polarizer
A polarizer including an antenna connected to a waveguide. The waveguide including a broad wall having a cross-slot in communication with at least one port.
Scalable antenna array
In one scenario, a pillbox array is provided. The pillbox array includes a feed network unit that receives an input wave. The feed network unit includes feed branches for splitting and transmitting the input wave, pillbox reflectors that collimate the input wave, and radiating waveguides for radiating the collimated input wave. The pillbox array further includes a load plate mounted on the feed network unit, where the load plate has load elements placed between the radiating waveguides. This pillbox array also includes a polarizer plate that is mounted on the load plate and the feed network unit. The polarizer plate includes polarizers arranged such that when the polarizer plate is laterally shifted to a first side of the radiating waveguides, a first circular polarization occurs, and when the polarizer plate is laterally shifted to a second side of the radiating waveguides, a second circular polarization occurs.
Apparatus and methods for generating an electromagnetic wave along a transmission medium
Aspects of the subject disclosure may include, generating, by a plurality of dielectric antennas of a waveguide system, a plurality of instances of electromagnetic waves that combines to form a combined electromagnetic wave, and directing, by the waveguide system, the combined electromagnetic wave to an interface of a transmission medium for guiding propagation of the combined electromagnetic wave along the transmission medium without requiring an electrical return path. Other embodiments are disclosed.
PHASE-CONTROLLED ANTENNA ELEMENT
A phase-controlled antenna element includes a waveguide emitter with signal output or signal injection, into which a rotatable phase control element is introduced, and a drive unit. The phase control element comprises in this case a holder, at least two polarizers which are fastened to the holder, and a connecting element. Each of the at least two polarizers can convert a circularly polarized signal into a linearly polarized signal. The phase control element is rotatably fitted in the waveguide emitter and is connected to the drive unit with the aid of the connecting element in such a manner that the drive unit can rotate the phase control element about the axis of the waveguide emitter.
