CPW-FED CIRCULARLY POLARIZED APPLIQUE ANTENNAS FOR GPS AND SDARS BANDS
A thin film, flexible antenna that has particular application to be adhered to vehicle glass, where the antenna is operable to receive right-hand or left-hand circularly polarized signals from, for example, GPS and SDARS satellites. The antenna is a printed planar antenna formed to the substrate and includes a ground plane having an outer perimeter portion defining a slot therein and having a plurality of sides. A T-line tuning stub extends from one of the sides into the slot, a curved spur-line tuning stub extends from a corner where two sides of the perimeter portion meet and extends into the slot, and a radiating element electrically isolated from the perimeter portion extends into the slot. The perimeter portion is operable to generate circularly polarized signals to be received by the radiating element where the tuning stubs provide phase tuning of the circularly polarized signals.
PARTIAL DIELECTRIC LOADED SEPTUM POLARIZER
In an example embodiment, a waveguide device comprises: a first common waveguide; a polarizer section, the polarizer section including a conductive septum dividing the first common waveguide into a first divided waveguide portion and a second waveguide divided portion; a second waveguide coupled to the first divided waveguide portion of the polarizer section; a third waveguide coupled to the second divided waveguide portion of the polarizer section; and a dielectric insert. The dielectric insert includes a first dielectric portion partially filling the polarizer section. The conductive septum and the dielectric portion convert a signal between a polarized state in the first common waveguide and a first polarization component in the second waveguide and a second polarization component in the third waveguide.

Antenna having increased side-lobe suppression and improved side-lobe level
An embodiment of an antenna includes first and second transmission lines, first antenna elements, and second antenna elements. The first transmission line is configured to guide a first signal such that the first signal has a characteristic of a first value, and the second transmission line is configured to guide a second signal such that the second signal has the same characteristic but of a second value that is different than the first value. The first antenna elements are each disposed adjacent to the first transmission line and are each configured to radiate the first signal in response to a respective first control signal, and the second antenna elements are each disposed adjacent to the second transmission line and are each configured to radiate the second signal in response to a respective second control signal. Such an antenna can have better main-beam and side-lobe characteristics, and a better SIR, than prior antennas.

Densely-packed optical phased arrays via k-vector mismatch and metamaterial rods
A method of forming an emitting array of waveguides, comprising providing a plurality of waveguides that exhibit different propagation constants so as to ensure that nearby waveguides do not couple evenly over parallel propagation lengths by varying a length in one or more dimensions of respective waveguides, whereby the respective waveguides are phase mismatched with at least their nearest neighbor.

Compact Antenna Test Range (CATR) Alignment Verification
Methods, apparatuses, and systems for verifying alignment of a compact antenna test range (CATR) are presented. A radio frequency (RF) profile may be generated based on test signals received by a reference antenna at a plurality of orientations. Phase and amplitude data of the RF profile may be used to determine whether the CATR is aligned properly.
