Quick connect terminal assembly
11569592 · 2023-01-31 ·

A quick connect terminal assembly for attaching a conductor to an electrical circuit includes a terminal which can be attached to an electrical circuit. A retainer engages the terminal which defines a conductor space between the retainer and the terminal. The conductor space insertably receives an end of a conductor. The retainer is biased toward the terminal to compress the conductor between the terminal and the retainer. Each of the retainer and the terminal is comprised of an electrically conductive material to facilitate electrical communication between the conductor and the electrical circuit. A sheath is positioned around the terminal and the retainer to inhibit electrical communication between the conductor and external objects.

An electrical connector includes an insulative housing, and a pair of contacts which are secured together by a clamp mounted within the housing. Each electrical contact includes a planar body, spring fingers extending from a first end of the body, and a coupling extending from the body to couple the electrical contacts to the housing. A first deflection zone between the clamp and first ends of the spring fingers allows the spring fingers to deflect in a lateral direction to receive the conductive component within the receiving space. A second deflection zone between the first ends of the spring fingers and the second ends of the bodies allow the bodies and spring fingers to deflect in the lateral direction when the conductive component is received within the receiving space, but the conductive component is not directly aligned with the receiving space.

The present invention relates to a terminal (1) with a spring force terminal connection (2) with at least one conductor terminal point (K), an insulating material housing (6), a conductor introduction channel (60), and a release lever (5). The release lever (5) is mounted in the insulating material housing (6) pivotably about a pivot axis (A) extending transverse to a conductor introduction direction (E) of an electric conductor between an idle position with closed conductor terminal point (K) and an actuating position with opened conductor terminal point (K). The release lever (5) has two lever arm portions (50) which are spaced apart from one another and which are immersed on both sides of the conductor introduction channel (60) at least partially into the insulating material housing (6). The lever arm portions (50) have in each case a guide portion (53) which face one another and form between them at least a part of the conductor introduction channel (60). The guide portions (53) in the idle position and/or in the actuating position, as seen in the conductor introduction direction, run toward the conductor terminal point (K) in a manner which narrows the conductor introduction channel (60).

A lever connector for contacting electrical conductors includes features and improvements over other lever connectors. The lever connector includes a housing, a busbar located within the housing, one or more lever mechanisms, and one or more resilient members that connect the lever mechanisms to the busbar. The lever mechanism includes a lever located on a near side of the busbar bridge and a lifting mechanism located on a far side of the busbar bridge opposite the near side of the busbar bridge. When the lever is actuated and lifted upwards and away from the housing, the lifting mechanism moves the resilient member to release away from the busbar. When the lever is closed and pushed downward toward the housing, the lifting mechanism moves the resilient member downward to push the electrical conductor against the busbar, thereby making electrical contact between the electrical conductor and the busbar.
