Laser-Driven Light Source with Electrodeless Ignition
An electrodeless laser-driven light source includes a laser that generates a CW sustaining light. A pump laser generates pump light. A Q-switched laser crystal receives the pump light generated by the pump laser and generates pulsed laser light at an output in response to the generated pump light. A first optical element projects the pulsed laser light along a first axis to a breakdown region in a gas-filled bulb comprising an ionizing gas. A second optical element projects the CW sustaining light along a second axis to a CW plasma region in the gas-filled bulb comprising the ionizing gas. A detector detects plasma light generated by a CW plasma and generates a detection signal at an output. A controller generates control signals that control the pump light to the Q-switched laser crystal so as to extinguish the pulsed laser light within a time delay after the detection signal exceeds a threshold level.
SOLID-STATE LASER APPARATUS, FIBER AMPLIFIER SYSTEM, AND SOLID-STATE LASER SYSTEM
A solid-state laser apparatus may include a first oscillator, a laser light generator, and a plurality of stages of fiber amplifiers. The first oscillator may be configured to output seed light. The laser light generator may be configured to output a pulsed laser light beam generated on a basis of the seed light. The plurality of stages of fiber amplifiers may be disposed in series in an optical path of the pulsed laser light beam, and may include a final stage fiber amplifier. The final stage fiber amplifier may be located in a final stage in the plurality of stages of fiber amplifiers, and may include a silica fiber doped with erbium and ytterbium. A value as a result of division of a cross-sectional area of the silica fiber by a fiber length of the silica fiber may be in a range from 0.7 nm to 1.64 nm both inclusive.
SOLID-STATE LASER SYSTEM AND LASER APPARATUS USED FOR EXPOSURE APPARATUS
A solid-state laser system may include a first solid-state laser unit, a second solid-state laser unit, a wavelength conversion system, a wavelength detector, and a wavelength controller. The wavelength conversion system may receive a first pulsed laser light beam with a first wavelength and a second pulsed laser light beam with a second wavelength, and output a third pulsed laser light beam with a third wavelength converted from the first and second wavelengths. The wavelength controller may control the first solid-state laser unit to vary the first wavelength on a condition that an absolute value of a difference between a value of a target wavelength and a value of the third wavelength detected by the wavelength detector is equal to or less than a predetermined value, and control the second solid-state laser unit to vary the second wavelength on a condition that the absolute value exceeds the predetermined value.
WAVELENGTH DIVISION MULTIPLEXING (WDM) BEAM SOURCE
A WDM seed beam source for a fiber laser amplifier system that includes a number of master oscillators that generate seed beams at different wavelengths and a spectral multiplexer that multiplexes all of the seed beams onto a single fiber. An EOM modulates the combined seed beams on the single fiber and a spectral demultiplexer then separates the modulated seed beams into their constituent wavelengths on separate fibers before the seed beams are amplified and spectrally combined. The fiber laser amplifier system includes a separate fiber amplifier that amplifies the separated seed beams, an emitter array that directs the amplified beams into free space, beam collimating optics that focuses the uncombined beams, and an SBC grating responsive to the collimated uncombined beams that spatially combines the collimated uncombined beams.
COHERENT BEAM COMBINING (CBC) FIBER LASER AMPLIFIER SYSTEM
A coherently beam combining (CBC) fiber laser amplifier system including beam shaper array assembly and a beam source that provides a plurality of beams having a low fill factor profile. The assembly includes an input beam shaper array having a plurality of input cells positioned adjacent to each other that are shaped to cause the beam to expand as it propagates away from the input array to be converted from the low fill factor profile to a high fill factor profile and cause the profile to taper to a lower value at a perimeter of each input array cell. The assembly further includes an output beam shaper array having a plurality of output cells positioned adjacent to each other that are shaped to cause the beam to stop expanding so that the output array provides a plurality of adjacent beams with minimal overlap and a minimal gap between the beams.
Chip-scale power scalable ultraviolet optical source
A chip scale ultra violet laser source includes a plurality of laser elements on a substrate each including a back cavity mirror, a tapered gain medium, an outcoupler, a nonlinear crystal coupled to the outcoupler with a front facet that has a first coating that is anti-reflectivity (AR) to a fundamental wavelength of the laser element and high reflectivity (HR) to ultra violet wavelengths, and has an exit facet that has a second coating that has HR to a fundamental wavelength of the laser element and AR to the ultra violet wavelengths, a photodetector coupled to the outcoupler, a phase modulator coupled to the photodetector and coupled to the back cavity mirror, and a master laser diode on the substrate coupled to the phase modulator of each laser element. Each laser element emits an ultra violet beamlet and is frequency and phase locked to the master laser diode.
Optical Waveguide
The invention relates to an optical waveguide with at least one core region (1) extending along the longitudinal extent of the optical waveguide, and with a first jacket (2) which, viewed in the cross section of the optical waveguide, surrounds the core region (1). The invention further relates to an optical arrangement with such an optical waveguide, and to a method for producing the optical waveguide. The object of the invention is to make available an optical waveguide for high-performance operation, which is improved in relation to the prior art in terms of mode instability. The invention achieves this object by virtue of the fact that the optical waveguide consists of crystalline material at least in the core region (1).
OPTICAL AMPLIFIER
A multi-stage optical amplifier has an input port for receiving an optical signal and a relatively short erbium doped optical fiber is coupled to the input port. Complex costly pump feedback is not required as a constant non-varying saturation pump is configured to provide non varying output power pump light of a predetermined wavelength suitable for excitation and full saturation of the erbium ions such that a full population inversion occurs. The length of the short erbium doped fiber and rare earth doping concentration of the erbium doped fiber is such that when pumped by said pump provides amplification of the optical signal of less than 15 dB. Locating a gain flattening filter after the short erbium doped optical fiber provides a relatively flat amplified output signal. Multi-stages of similar short erbium doped fibers pumped and saturated by the same pump signal economically provide increased amplification of the signal and filters after each state flatten the gain.
Laser Source, Particularly For Industrial Processes
A laser source for use in providing a laser beam for industrial operations in an industrial plant. The laser source selectively providing a first laser beam at a first outlet having relatively high power and lower beam quality and a second laser beam at a second outlet having relatively lower power and higher beam quality. The laser source including an optical path selector device for selectively transmitting a first laser beam along a first or second optical line toward respective first and second outlets. The second optical path having an optical amplification unit for changing the first laser to the second laser. An industrial plant including at least a first laser source selectively controls the first laser source to provide the first and the second lasers to predetermined laser processing stations. A second laser source may be used and controlled to provide a first or second laser to an alternate laser processing station on a failure of another laser source.
LASER DEVICE
A laser device includes element circuits, a front optical system, and a reflective optical system. The front optical system forms a plurality of light beams by collimating a plurality of phase modulated light signals input from the element circuits, and generate a plurality of partially reflected light signals by partially reflecting the plurality of phase modulated light signals. The reflective optical system multiplexes the input local oscillation light with the plurality of partially reflected light signals by reflecting the local oscillation light in a direction of the front optical system. The element circuits can convert each of a plurality of interference light signals generated by multiplexing of the plurality of partially reflected light signals and the local oscillation light into a plurality of electric signals, and can detect a phase error between the plurality of electric signals and a reference signal.
