Chest valve for treating pneumothorax
A chest valve including: a housing including an inlet configured to connect to a chest tube, an outlet and a fluid passage from the inlet to the outlet; and a one-way valve within the housing and included in the flow passage, wherein the one-way valve includes: (i) a first tubular strip wherein having an internal air passage and a first layer defining the air passage, wherein the first layer has a first thickness and the internal air passage of the first tubular strip is included in fluid passage of the housing; and (ii) a second tubular strip wherein having a second layer with a second thickness with a second thickness greater than the first thickness, wherein an outer surface of the second tubular strip is adjacent and overlaps an outer surface of the first tubular strip.
FLOATER BASED FLOW CONTROL DEVICE FOR GRAVITY IV SETS
A flow control device includes an upper housing, a lower housing, a chamber interposed between and defined by the upper and lower housings, and a valve member. The upper housing includes a primary inlet having an internal surface defining a cavity and a secondary inlet. The lower housing defines an outlet of the flow control device. The chamber fluidly connects the primary and secondary inlets with the outlet. A valve member is reciprocally disposed at least partially in the cavity and partially in the chamber to (i) selectively permit fluid flow in the primary inlet in a first direction when a fluid level in the chamber is below a predetermined level, and (ii) prevent fluid backflow in a second direction opposite to the first direction when the fluid level in the chamber is above the predetermined level.
Airway Assist Device
An airway assist device and methods of making and using an airway assist device to assist in opening an airway or removing fluid or material obstructing an airway of a subject.
CHECK VALVE WITH FLASH SEAL
Check valve assemblies for fluid flow sets and devices are provided. The check valve assembly includes a housing having an inlet body and an outlet body. The inlet body includes a fluid inlet, a first seal bead having a first height, a second seal bead having a second height and a central channel. The outlet body includes a fluid outlet and a stem having a centering post, the centering post received by the central channel of the inlet body. A seal has an inner ring with a first thickness and an outer ring with a second thickness less than the first thickness. The inner ring is engaged with the first seal bead and the outer ring is engaged with the second seal bead in a fully sealed position of the check valve assembly. Fluid flow sets and methods for manufacturing check valve assemblies are also provided.
Check valve with integrated filter
A method of manufacturing a check valve may include forming an upper housing as cylindrical body with (i) an internal surface including an upstream internal surface and a downstream internal surface having a projection and (ii) an external surface, forming a T-shaped filter member and mounting the T-shaped filter member in the internal surface of the upper housing. The method may further include forming a lower housing with a support portion at a central portion thereof, mounting a flexible valve member on the support portion, and coupling the upper housing with T-shaped filter member mounted therein onto the lower housing with flexible valve member mounted therein such that the T-shaped filter member is disposed upstream of the flexible valve member.
AUTOMATIC PLEURAL-PERITONAL PUMP
An automatic pump-based fluid management system, as described herein, comprises an intercostal pump that is, generally, a resiliently flexible bulb having an inlet and an outlet. The inlet is attached to a first tube that extends from the intercostal pump to a first area of a patient's body, for example, the patient's pleural cavity. The outlet is connected to a second tube that extends from the intercostal pump to a second area of a patient's body, for example, the patient's peritoneal cavity. In use, the intercostal pump is placed between a first rib and a second rib in a patient. The intercostal pump operates by being successively compressed and decompressed between the first and second ribs as the patient breaths.
Distal valve for a catheter
A method for making a catheter. The method includes forming a catheter tube including an outer wall circumscribing at least one lumen and having a closed distal end, and creating a slit valve in a distal segment of the catheter tube proximal of the closed distal end. The slit valve includes a slit through the outer wall and a compliant segment designed to facilitate inward deflection of a portion of the outer wall along the slit when negative pressure is applied to the at least one lumen. The compliant segment is circumferentially spaced apart from the slit.
