A system and method for detecting and isolating an electromagnetic pulse (EMP) along first phase, second phase, and third phase electrical lines electrically connected to a monitored infrastructure so as to protect the monitored infrastructure, the method for detecting and isolating includes a phase unit receiving electric signal data from a sensor electrically connected individually to each of the first phase, second phase, and third phase electrical lines, respectively, upstream of and associated with the monitored infrastructure. The method includes determining if the received electric signal data associated with the respective electrical line is indicative of an E1 component of an EMP and, if so, actuating an isolation subsystem in less than 300 nanoseconds to electrically isolate the respective electrical line against electrical communication with the monitored infrastructure.

A blade angle feedback ring assembly for an aircraft engine propeller having adjustable angle blades is provided. The feedback ring assembly comprises a feedback ring coupled to rotate with the propeller, the engine configured such that a first electrically-conductive path is defined between the propeller and the engine via the feedback ring, and an electric current conduction element provided between the propeller and the engine to define a second electrically-conductive path between the propeller and the engine in parallel to the first path, the second electrically-conductive path configured with a lower electrical resistance to conduction between the propeller and the engine than the first electrically-conductive path.

DEVICES FOR ACTIVE OVERVOLTAGE PROTECTION

A circuit protection device is provided. The circuit protection device includes an active energy absorber that is coupled between two power lines in an electrical power distribution system and is configured to selectively conduct fault current responsive to overvoltage conditions. The active energy absorber includes an overvoltage protection module that includes two thyristors that are connected in anti-parallel with one another and a varistor that is connected with the overvoltage protection module as a series circuit. The series circuit including the varistor and the overvoltage protection module is connected between the power lines.

A circuit protection device is provided.
