The first segments extend from a radially inner portion of the segmented body to a radially outer portion of the segmented body. The second segments are axially stacked in alteration with the first layers along an axis of the segmented body. The first segments have thermal conductivity greater than thermal conductivity of the second segments for transferring heat from the radially outer portion of the segmented body to the radially inner portion of the segmented body.

METHOD OF MANUFACTURING AN ENCAPSULATED ELECTROMAGNETIC COIL WITH AN INTENTIONALLY ENGINEERED HEAT FLOW PATH

A method for manufacturing an electromagnetic coil with an intentionally engineered heat flow path is provided. The method includes defining at least one preferential heat flow path for heat to flow from the electromagnetic coil. A plurality of different materials are selected, each having different heat flow properties. A determination is made as to which portions of the electromagnetic coil should be coated with each of the different materials that will result in the at least one preferential heat flow path. The determined portions of the electromagnetic coil are then coated with each of the different materials to make a coated electromagnetic coil, and the coated electromagnetic coil is encased in a coil cartridge.

The soft component is connected cohesively and/or by positive engagement to the hard component. The intermediate insulating part (1) has at least one pressing element (33) by which at least one heat-generating structural part is pressed against a cooling surface. The intermediate insulating part (1) has a hood-shaped support which is made of a hard, electrically insulating plastic. At least one sealing part (14, 25) made of a soft component is connected to said support. Moreover, the intermediate insulating part (1) has at least one pressing element (33).

Adjacent ones of the slots are separated from one another by a slot wall. The carrier stack has circular end faces and is formed with slot openings for the slots. Electrically insulating material is applied upon at least the slot walls of at least one of the end faces to cover the slot walls at their end face and to electrically insulate the slot walls.
