The present invention relates to a percutaneous blood pump (1) and an introducer system to be placed in the circulatory system of a patient e.g. using the Seldinger technique without the need of surgical access. The percutaneous blood pump (1) comprises a pump housing (11) inside which a radially pumping impeller (12) is arranged for rotation by means of a rotating flexible cable housed inside a protective flexible catheter (15) and attached to a bearing housing (21) in which a set of radial and axial bearings are housed and arranged for rotation by means of a flexible cable housed inside another protective flexible catheter (25) and driven by an electric motor (30) in a motor housing (31). In addition, an introducer system, comprising an expandable introducer is provided, arranged to facilitate easy and safe introduction of the percutaneous blood pump. The introducer system may comprise a hemostatic valve to limit blood loss during insertion and percutaneous blood pump use. More particularly, the present invention relates to a per-cutaneous blood pump that can be large enough to deliver full circulatory support and is easily and safely introduced into the circulatory system by means of an expandable introducer. The introducer system may include a closure device that is configured to close the incision site after removal of the blood pump and introducer.

INTRACARDIAC DEVICE

The present invention provides intracardiac devices and methods of implanting the same. The intracardiac devices have a collapsible stent design and include an axial pump to support cardiac function. The axial pump can feature a shaftless fluid actuator for enhanced efficiency in fluid transfer while reducing blood cell trauma. The intracardiac devices include valves that are closeable to seal implanted devices from a subject's anatomy. The intracardiac devices include a cleaning system configured to introduce and circulate cleaning solutions and therapeutics to implanted devices. The intracardiac devices are wirelessly powered and controlled. The intracardiac devices can be implanted using minimally invasive procedures without the need for open heart surgery.

Catheter pump

A catheter pump is provided that includes a rotatable impeller and an elongate cannula. The elongate cannula has a mesh that has a plurality of circumferential members disposed about the impeller. The elongate cannula has a plurality of axial connector extending between a proximal side of a distal circumferential member and a distal side of a proximal circumferential member. The circumferential members are radially self-expandable. The cannula is configured to minimize fracture within at least in the distal zone of the mesh as the elongated cannula moves into a sheathing device.

Vena-caval sleeve

Apparatus and methods are described for use with a tributary vessel of a subject that supplies a vein of the subject. Blood within the tributary vessel is mechanically isolated into a compartment that is separated from blood within the vein. Blood flow from the tributary vessel to the vein is controlled by pumping blood from the compartment to the vein. Other applications are also described.

Thermal Interconnect for Implantable Blood Pump

Systems, methods, and devices for improved cooling of an implantable blood pump employ a thermal conductor to conduct heat to blood flowing through the blood pump. A method includes drawing a flow of blood into a blood pump, passing the flow of blood through the blood pump such that heat flow is conducted to the flow of blood via the thermal conductor, and outputting the flow of blood from the blood pump.

INTRACARDIAC PERCUTANEOUS PUMP FOR CIRCULATORY SUPPORT AND RELATED SYSTEMS AND METHODS

A device comprises an implantable blood pump receivable in a sheath for percutaneous delivery. The implantable blood pump comprises a collapsible impeller mounted in a collapsible impeller cage, and a drive device mounted in a housing. The housing is in connection between a first end of a catheter and the collapsible impeller cage. The drive device is adapted for rotating the collapsible impeller. A retractable support structure is adapted to extend from the catheter. The extended retractable support structure is adapted to engage with the wall of the aorta for allowing the implantable blood pump to be secured in the left ventricle. The collapsible impeller cage comprises an inlet and an outlet. The inlet is adapted to receive blood from the left ventricle. The outlet directs blood in the direction of the atrioventricular valve.

INTRAVASCULAR BLOOD PUMP WITH INTAKE FILTER

An intravascular blood pump has an intake filter that reduces risk of heart tissue being sucked into an intake port of the pump. The filter defines a plurality of apertures, through which blood flows through the filter. The apertures are sized to prevent ingestion, by the input port, of the heart tissue. The filter includes a plurality of generally helical first struts wound about a longitudinal axis of the filter, and a plurality of second struts. The first and second struts collectively define the plurality of apertures therebetween. The struts may be woven filaments, or the apertures may be defined in a thin film (foil) tube, where remaining material between the apertures form the struts.
