A patch-sized fluid delivery device may include a reusable portion and a disposable portion. The disposable portion may include components that come into contact with the fluid, while the reusable portion may include only components that do not come into contact with the fluid. Redundant systems, such as redundant controllers, power sources, motor actuators, and alarms, may be provided. Alternatively or additionally, certain components can be multi-functional, such a microphones and loudspeakers that may be used for both acoustic volume sensing and for other functions and a coil that may be used as both an inductive coupler for a battery recharger and an antenna for a wireless transceiver. Various types of network interfaces may be provided in order to allow for remote control and monitoring of the device.

CIRCULATORY ASSIST PUMP
20230201563 · 2023-06-29 ·

A minimally invasive circulatory support platform that utilizes an aortic stent pump or pumps is described. The platform uses a low profile catheter-based techniques and provides temporary and chronic circulatory support depending on the needs of the patient. Also described is a catheter-based temporary assist pump to treat patients with acute decompensated heart failure and provide circulatory support to subjects undergoing high risk percutaneous coronary intervention. Further described is a wirelessly powered circulatory assist pump for providing chronic circulatory support for heart failure patients. The platform and system are relatively easy to place, have higher flow rates than existing systems, and provide improvements in the patient's renal function.

Method and device to monitor patients with kidney disease

A medical monitoring device for monitoring electrical signals from the body of a subject is described. The medical monitoring device monitors electrical signals originating from a cardiac cycle of the subject and associates each cardiac cycle with a time index. The medical monitoring device applies a forward computational procedure to generate a risk score indicative of hyperkalemia, hypokalemia or arrhythmia of the subject. The medical monitoring device can adjust the forward computational procedure based upon clinical data obtained from the subject.

Ventricular assist devices

An implantable blood pump includes a control unit storing patient specific settings. The control unit is configured to store patient specific settings. The patient specific settings can be used to determine a target operating speed for the blood pump and/or a target operating mode for the blood pump. The patient specific settings can include at least one of an operating mode for the pump, a set speed for the pump, a lower speed limit for the pump, a patient hematocrit value, a patient hematocrit date, a patient blood density, and a periodic log rate for event and periodic data.

Gastric resident electronics

Gastric resident electronics, devices, systems, and related methods are generally provided. Some embodiments comprise administering (e.g., orally) an (electronic) resident structure to a subject (e.g., a patient) such that the (electronic) resident structure is retained at a location internal to the subject for a particular amount of time (e.g., at least about 24 hours) before exiting said location internal to the subject. In some embodiments, the resident structure is a gastric resident electronic. That is to say, in some embodiments, the resident structure is configured for relatively long gastric residence and comprises an electronic component. In some embodiments, the structures and components described herein may comprise one or more components configured for the delivery of an active substance(s) (e.g., a pharmaceutical agent) to the subject. In some embodiments, the device has a modular design, combining an electronic component(s) with materials configured for controlled and/or tunable degradation/dissolution to determine the time at which (gastric) residence is lost and the device exits the location internal to the subject. For example, in some embodiments, the resident structure comprises an electronic component and one or more additional components associated with the electronic component such that the resident structure is configured to be retained at a location internal to a subject for greater than or equal to 24 hours.

WIRELESS INTRALUMINAL DEVICE AND SYSTEM

A wireless intraluminal device and an associated system for treating and diagnosing patients are provided. In one embodiment, the wireless intraluminal device includes a flexible elongate member including a proximal portion and a distal portion; a sensor assembly coupled to the distal portion of the flexible elongate member; a cable coupled to the sensor assembly and extending along the flexible elongate member; and a wireless transceiver positioned within the flexible elongate member, wherein the wireless transceiver is in communication with the sensor assembly via the cable. A wireless communication component wirelessly transmits a sensor measurement collected by the sensor assembly to a sensor measurement processing system via a wireless link for physiological data generation at the sensor measurement processing system.

Stimulation of penis erection
09844623 · 2017-12-19 ·

A method of implanting a penis erection stimulation system into a patient's body comprises cutting the skin of the patient body, dissecting free an area near the left and right corpus cavernosum, placing a drug delivery device within the dissected area and placing at least one infusion needle of the drug delivery device in a first position in the patient's body in between the left and right corpus cavernosum.

Energy Management of Blood Pump Controllers

Systems and related methods for supplying power to a medical device employ serially-connectable portable batteries. A method of supplying electrical power to a medical device includes discharging a first external battery to output electrical power to a second external battery. Distribution of the electrical power received by the second external battery is controlled to simultaneously charge the second external battery and output electrical power from the second external battery to supply electrical power to the medical device.
