Specimen collection cassette for retrieving tissue samples from a fluid stream generated during a medical/surgical procedure
A specimen collection cassette for a medical fluid collection system. A housing defines a first void space and a second void space, and an outlet opening in fluid communication with the first and second void spaces. An aperture may be within a wall separating the first and second void spaces with the aperture providing fluid communication between the first and second void spaces. First and second fittings receive a suction line for drawing fluid into the first and second void spaces, respectively. A fluid communication path is established from the first fitting to the outlet opening through the first void space, aperture, and the second void space, and a bypass fluid communication path is established from the second bore to the outlet opening through the second void space. The cassette is operable in one or both of a tissue sample collection mode and a bypass mode.
Medicament Delivery Device
The present invention relates to a medicament delivery device comprising a housing (10), which housing is arranged to accommodate a medicament container (20); a power unit (88) comprising: a drive force element (98), an actuation unit (90, 102) operably connected to said drive force element (98); which actuation unit (90, 102) is movable, upon activation of said drive force element (98), for expelling a dose of medicament from said medicament container (20); a monitoring unit (130) provided with an electrical power source (140) for operating said monitoring unit (130). The invention is characterised in that the medicament delivery device further comprises an activation element (160) operably connected to said actuation unit (90, 102), to said monitoring unit (130) and to said electrical power source (140), wherein said activation element (160) is arranged to allow connection between said electrical power source (140) and said monitoring unit (130) when said actuation unit (98, 102) is moved.
Cassette For Collecting A Tissue Sample With A Medical Fluid Collection System
A cassette for collecting a tissue sample. The cassette includes a housing configured to be removably coupled with a manifold receiver of a medical fluid collection system. The housing defines a first void space, a second void space, and an outlet opening. A catch tray is removably positionable within the first void space and includes a screen defining porous features for collecting the tissue sample. A filter element separate from the catch tray is disposed within the second void space. The housing may include a cap portion defining the first void space, and a shell portion coupled to the cap portion and defining the second void space. The cassette may be simultaneously operable in a tissue collection mode in which fluid is suctioned across the catch tray to collect the tissue sample, and a bypass mode in which the fluid is not suctioned across the catch tray.
Inhaler counter
An inhaler for delivery of a medicament by inhalation is disclosed. The inhaler comprises a dispensing mechanism, the dispensing mechanism being configured to dispense a dose of medicament on actuation. The inhaler further comprises a dose counting mechanism comprising a counter and a translating member. The translating member comprises a pawl. The counter comprises a first count wheel, a second count wheel and an intermediate wheel engaged with the second count wheel and in selective engagement with the first count wheel. When the inhaler is fired to dispense a dose of medicament, the dispensing mechanism moves the translating member in a substantially linear direction. The pawl thus rotates the first count wheel, and as the first count wheel rotates, the intermediate wheel is selectively engaged thereby selectively rotating the second count wheel to count the doses of the inhaler.
Drug delivery device comprising a prism
The present disclosure relates to a drug delivery device comprising a dose setting member for setting user variable doses of a medicament and a display for indicating the dose set by the dose setting member. The display comprises a number wheel, which is rotationally coupled to the dose setting member and is provided with a series of markings on its outer circumference, and at least one prism deviating the image of the markings of the number wheel, e.g. by 90°.
Sterilization Arrangement for Drug Delivery Device
A drug delivery system for injecting a medicament includes a housing defining a cavity, a container received within the cavity and configured to receive a medicament, the container comprising a stopper configured to move within the container and a closure, a drive assembly received within the cavity and configured to drive the stopper within the container, a needle actuator assembly received within the cavity and comprising a needle configured to be placed in fluid communication with the container, the needle moveable from a first position and a second position spaced from the first position, and a sterilizer received within the cavity and configured to sterilize at least one of the container, the drive assembly, and the needle actuator assembly upon activation of the drug delivery system.
Processes for utilizing safety syringe assemblies
The processes for inserting fluid under the skin of a patient using a safety syringe assembly include initially locating an up-alignment marker. The marker is aligned with a bevel in the needle of the safety syringe assembly so the orientation of the needle bevel is always known by the medical professional, even when the needle bevel cannot be seen. The needle is inserted bevel up prior to insertion. Once inserted, the medical professional inverts the safety syringe assembly so that the bevel is down. This is done by merely flicking the wrist of the hand holding the safety syringe assembly. This prevents splash back of any body fluids from the patient to the medical professional. The same safety syringe assembly and the same process are used for withdrawing fluids from the body of the patient.
Drive mechanism and drug delivery device herewith
The present disclosure is generally directed to a drive mechanism for use in a drug delivery device having a cylindrical cartridge, i.e. a handheld injection device for selecting and dispensing a number of user variable doses of a medicament. The drive mechanism includes a base element, a toothed piston rod, which is guided within and movable relative to the base element, and a drive gear having a pinion, which is rotatably held in the base element and in meshed engagement with the toothed piston rod. The toothed piston rod includes multiple rigid rod pieces which are connected by hinges. The rigid rod pieces comprise a flat plate provided with a straight toothed rack.
Injection Device with a Preselector
An injection device for setting and injecting a dose of a medicament comprises a housing) extending along an axial direction (z), a dose setting mechanism arranged in the housing, a dose dial displaceable relative to the housing for setting of the dose, a dose tracker (50; 150) operably connectable to the dose dial (12), the dose tracker is at least one of translationally or rotationally displaceable relative to the housing during setting of a dose, wherein a positional state of the dose tracker relative to the housing is indicative of a size of the dose, and a preselector configured to define a maximum dose positional state of the dose tracker relative to the housing, and a first marker provided on one of the dose tracker and the preselector and configured to indicate the positional state of the dose tracker relative to the preselector.
